Indian poker player Anirban Das caught the international limelight during World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2023 in Las Vegas. He made a smashing performance at the coveted WSOP Main Event and finished 16th for a breathtaking sum of $430,200. This career-best score was not the only thing Das earned, he also won praises from all corners of the world for his impeccable game play. He is the first and only Indian to have a WSOP Main Event finish in the top 20.

The road to WSOP 2023 was a special one. Das had a silver podium finish at the coveted National Poker Series by PokerBaazi in 2023. Apart from the prize money, Das also earned an opportunity to play at the WSOP 2023. This makes Das the perfect inspiration for players looking to grind at the prestigious tournament series in Las Vegas, through online qualifiers and satellites.

Das’ tryst with poker wasn’t by accident. The Bengaluru resident finished his MBA from the Indian Institute of Ahmedabad (IIM-A) and landed a job at Zynga in Bengaluru. Das got hooked on to the card game and started playing regularly, and was also Gutshot Magazine’s Player of the Month in June 2021.

Later, Das took a sabbatical from his full-time position and kept his focus only on the game of skill. With a poker career spanning over 12 years, Das has added over a 100 online titles to his credit which can make anyone envious. Das’ rankings are also impressive. He is listed in the top 30 in the India All Time Money List with total live earnings standing at over $400K, most of them coming in that single WSOP tournament itself.

Das who is known on the virtual felts as ‘pottysingh’ or ‘pokernoob’ has now announced to the world that he is here to stay. The player has struck a balance between his role as a Sr. Director, Product Management at Ola Electric and showing his poker prowess to the world.
