Wednesday Roundup: Gokul Raj and Dhinesh Kumar Among Others Clinch Top Titles


Wednesday night was filled with action on the virtual poker felts. While top players battled it out on the online felts of Spartan Poker, BlitzPoker and PokerHigh for IOPC titles, notable players were seen grinding on the other platforms too. Here’s what went down last night.

The Pride – ₹10 Lakh

The Pride on PokerBaazi witnessed top players battling it out. The final prize pool of this tourney surpassed its initial guarantee by a slight margin and stood at ₹10,36,000. Out of the 296 entries, the top 36 places were paid a min-cash of ₹7,044.

The tournament was shipped by Dhinesh Kumar aka ‘dhineshrocky007,’ who cashed ₹2.29 Lakh in prize money. At the second spot was Nishaanth Shanmughasundaram aka ‘shanni’ who walked away with ₹1.61 Lakh, while Karan Sitlani aka ‘collingwood’ grabbed the third spot for ₹1.03 Lakh.

Other pros who made it in the money included Anikt Wadhawan (8th, ₹30,560), Sanat Mehrotra (16th, ₹11,710), IOPC January 2021 winner, Laksh Pal Singh (18th, ₹11,710), Kritagya Sharma (19th, ₹10,260), Sanish Chhabra (21st, ₹10,260), IOPC July 2021 commentator, Kanchan Sharma (22nd, ₹9,116), Shashank Desai (23rd, ₹9,166), Megastack winner, Manish Lakhotia (26th, ₹8,080), Anmol Mehta (27th, ₹8,080), Sahil Mahboobani (28th, ₹7,044), Ritwik Khanna (32nd, ₹7,044) and Ram Kakkar (35th, ₹7,044).

Arjanveer Singh Chadha was the bubble boy at the 37th spot. Players like Aditya Singh (40th), Siddhanth Kripalani with three re-entries (48th), Myron Pereira (49th), Gutshot’s Player of the Month, Anirban Das (50th), Nitin Arora (51st), Sagar Choudhury (53rd), Guruprasad Gupta (60th), Dishani Vijay with seven re-entries (61st), Vivek Singh (101st), Arun Sriram (110th), IPC 2020 winner, Rubin Labroo (115th) and Kunal Patni with four entries (140th) got busted without making any money.

Other pros like Vishal Bajaj (5th, ₹79,500), WSOP bracelet winner, Kartik Ved (7th, ₹41,250), Sanat Mehrotra (11th, ₹19,500), Ankit Wadhawan (14th, ₹15,000), Arjanveer Singh Chadha (26th, ₹8,250), Ram Kakkar (30th, ₹7,500), Ritwik Khanna (42nd, ₹6000), Gutshot Magazine’s April 2021 cover star, Siddharth Karia (44th, ₹5,250), Armaan Kochhar (47th, ₹5,250), Shashank Desai (49th, ₹5,250), Arun Sriram (52nd, ₹5,250) and Vivek Singh (53rd, ₹5,250) also made it to the top 55 places.

PokerStarsNight on Stars was indeed a star studded tournament. The tournay witnessed 251 entries slogging it out. Top 27 places drew a min-cash of ₹3,075 from this tournament.

Faiz Alam aka ‘LFGgggg’ and Rishabh Jain aka ‘riverrshiverr’ split the prize money after seven and a half hours of play. Alam and Jain took home pay cheques of ₹47,068 and ₹47,067 respectively. Anonymous player ‘p11miditg’ finished third and cashed ₹31,632 in prize money.

Some other players who made the money included Gutshot’s Player of the Month, Anirban Das (13th, ₹5,154), Arun Sriram (16th, ₹3,981) and Armaan Kocchar with three re-entries (20th, ₹3,075). Siddharth Gangwar (52nd), Guruprasad Gupta (54th), Ashwin Vijay (55th), Kritagya Sharma (60th), Adda52 Game Ambassador Kunal Patni (87th), and Sanish Chhabra (113rd) were some players who couldn’t make any money.
