One of the most respected names in the Indian poker space, Ashish Munot has been an inspiration to many. He has always been consistent in the live and online space but he primarily rose to fame after shipping the World Poker Tour (WPT) India 2019 Main Event where he cashed an impressive ₹63,48,641 ($89,576).

Popularly known by his online playing username ‘OMG_spew’, the poker pro started off his journey nearly a decade ago. His first ever recorded live cash came in 2015 when he played in the India Poker Championship (IPC), just like many other Indian poker pros. Playing in the ₹5,000 + 1,250 NLHE – Warm Up, Munot cashed for ₹11,000 ($164).

Since then he has been grinding at various poker series across the globe, including the Asian Poker Tour (APT), and Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), as well as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. He won his first-ever live title by nailing the Kick-off event at Baadshah Gaming Live Tournament in 2018.

This was followed by the heroic WPT India victory 2019, where he beat Yuvraj Chaudhary in heads-up. In 2022, he took down the APPT Manila NLH 6-handed event, following shipping the NagaWorld SuperStack 50K at the WPT Prime Cambodia in Phnom Penh.

Munot has been on the circuit for quite some time and has managed to create a name for himself with some fantastic results, both online and live. Citing Munot’s ongoing trajectory, he is enroute to becoming one of the best poker pros in the country. Will he fulfill his potential and be one of the best players to emerge from India?
