Gagan Juneja finishes 3rd in WPT Vietnam Hyper Turbo


World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam kicked off on 3rd September 2019 at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. The third edition of the biggest event announced their return of the Asia-Swing earlier this year. Asia is once again ready for some major tournaments namely WPT Vietnam, WPT Korea, WPT India and WPT Japan.

The VND 8,800,000 Deepstack Hyper Turbo took place on the first day of WPT Vietnam. The event attracted 57 entries with a VND 6,600,000 buy-in. Korea’s Seong II Hwang emerged champion by taking home VND 159,235,000 (~INR 4.97 Lakhs) followed by Huynh Tai with 262,000 chips.

 

WPT Vietnam 2019 paved way for multiple Indian pro poker players to showcase their skills. The day proved to be a good one for Gagan Juneja representing India. Juneja finished at 3rd place in the event, taking home VND 58,607,000 (~INR 1.83 Lakhs).

Besides, the 9-day tournament series began with Day 1A of the Kickoff Event. This series opener drew 90 entries with a VND 16 million (~INR 51k) buy-in. Out of these, 11 participants including two Indian pro players, Jaideep Sajwan with third largest stack of 225,000 chips and Ashish Munot (71,000 chips), made it to Day 2. Jaideep’s last recorded live cash was at the APPT National in Manila where he finished at 57th for PHP 70,000 (~INR 94,820).
