World Poker Tour (WPT) 2022 Cambodia was a successful stop for the Indian contingent. The recently concluded WPT Prime 2022 Cambodia Main Event (ME) saw Kunal Patni and Ankit Jajodia making it to the final table. Eventually Patni and Jajodia busted at the 6th ($35,690) and 7th ($27,510) spot respectively. The ME title was shipped by David Erquiaga after he struck a three-way deal for $137,008. But was this event only about grinding and winning? No, of course not. A lot of fun was happening behind the scenes and trust us you will be delighted to see how candidly the camera has captured the fun!
India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) Jan 2021 ME winner Laksh Pal Singh singing is a rare sight. But this poker pro took the mic and showed the audience this unknown side of his persona. Singh’s poker buddy Dhaval Mudgal who many know has music in his genes also sang along making it a pretty duet for all to listen and see.
Kunal Patni who’s known to be the life of a party was seen enjoying himself to the fullest and happily posed for photographs. The banker turned poker pro won the $300 Deepstack No-Limit Hold’em (NLH) event at the series for a pay cheque of $7,853. Other pros like Shardul Parthasarathi, Zarvan Tumboli, Ashish Munot, Akshay Kapoor and Somashekar KM also grabbed winning titles at this coveted event.
Indian pros who couldn’t ship titles but were grinding at the series included names like Siddhanth Kripalani (IPC Megastacks May 2022), Kanchan Sharma, Ankit Jajodia, Abhinav Iyer, Jasven Saigal, Gaurav Sood, Dhaval Mudgal, Ankit Wadhawan (FTS 3.0 winner), Rajashekhar Puttamsetty, Sameer Agarwal, Amit Kaushik, Kaushal Vasa, Abhinandan Sarda, Sumit Sapra, Pratibh Saluja among others.
Overall, our Indian pros made quite the splash at the WPT Prime 2022 Cambodia. Now that we have some WPT trophies coming home, it would be interesting to see more pros clinching top titles at international live events and bringing glory to India. And for the behind the scenes fun and drama, we are here to capture it.
