Easily amongst the most easily recognizable faces on Asian felts and domestic tournaments, Sumit Sapra is an Indian poker pro who boasts an impressive poker resume. He is known for his consistent performance in the Indian poker circuit and claimed multiple online victories as well as deep runs in live events which establishes him as a top poker player.
With multiple high-profile scores the New Delhi-based man is known to also be amongst the first Indians who secured a Platinum Pass. He claimed it during the PokerStars Players NLHE Championship (PSPC) in 2019 after winning a Flipout tournament at the APPT Korea in April 2018 against Randy Lew.
Just like most Indian poker players, Sapra’s professional journey into the card game can be traced back to the India Poker Championship (IPC). His first ever recorded live performances came when the poker pro participated in the NLH Headhunters and registered a seventh place finish to earn ₹35,000 ($782).
He had a very productive 2012 recording final table finishes in India Poker Legend Macau Poker Cup Championship, Taipa, PokerGuru Tour (PGT) Season 2, while also shipping a 50K NLH Six Max High Roller title at PGT Season 2 to win ₹7,50,000 ($13,339).
He has made multiple stops across Asia and fared well in multiple tournaments like Macau Poker Cup, World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam, (Asia Poke League) APL Vietnam, PPPoker World Championship as well as Asia Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam.
The poker pro’s personal-best came at the APL Road Series Vol. 3 in 2018 which took place at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. The Chandigarh born has recorded a third place in the High Roller event to win VND 849,230,000 (~₹25.65 Lakh). It continues to remain his highest score as of January 2024.
