Thursday Round-up: Sumit Sapra Ships Adda52 Godfather For 6 Lakh


Thursday night on the virtual poker felts was an intense one. Top players from the country as well as amateurs were seen grinding equally hard to nail the top spots. Sumit Sapra, Kalmady, Sahil Mahboobani and Mohit Dhigra were the players who managed to emerge victorious. Let’s do a quick recap of the action of the night:

Godfather – ₹25 Lakh GTD

Adda52’s Godfather was an action-packed tourney. It witnessed 460 entries battling it out for the top spots. The top 49 places at this event finished in the money as the min-cash stood at ₹13,750. Sumit Sapra aka ‘Hammer_Head’ shipped the Godfather and laughed his way to the bank with ₹6,12,500. At the runner-up spot, mystery player ‘Samimeel’ took home ₹3,62,500.

The Summit – ₹15 Lakh GTD

PokerBaazi’s The Summit witnessed 211 entries, out of which the top 24 places were paid. The initial guarantee was surpassed and the final prize pool stood at ₹15,83,000. The min-cash stood at ₹15,190.

Suneet Kalmady aka ‘suneetkalmady’ and anonymous player ‘gaffer678’ ended the tourney in a deal. Kalmady added ₹3,29,000 to his bankroll, while ‘gaffer678’ took home ₹3,22,000. 

Sanat Mehrotra (5th, ₹95,740), Nitin Arora (6th, ₹76,590), Sagar Choudhury (8th, ₹50,960), IPC 2020 winner Rubin Labroo (9th, ₹38,140), Arjanveer Singh Chadha (10th, ₹27,850), Vaibhav Sharma (18th, ₹19,460), Vinay Rajpal (21st, ₹17,090) and Tanmay Benara (23rd, ₹15,190) were some players who made in the money at this tourney.

IOPC January 2021 Main Event winner Laksh Pal Singh was the bubble boy who busted at the 25th spot at this tourney. Other players like Manish Lakhotia (26th), Siddhanth Kripalani (32nd), Highroller winner Sahil Mahboobani (38th), Shagun Jain (47th), Myron Pereira (54th) and Ritwik Khanna (56th) left this tourney empty-handed.

Highroller – ₹10 Lakh GTD

PokerStarsHighroller was a power-packed event that witnessed 130 entries. The min-cash at this event stood at ₹18,793 and the top 15 places were paid.

Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘inaboobham’ and Jaideep Sajwan aka ‘NNomadas’ ended this tourney in a deal and cashed ₹1,99,498 and ₹1,88,589 respectively. Armaan Kochhar (3rd, ₹1,30,154), Manish Lakhotia (11st, ₹25,780), Kanchan Sharma (12th, ₹22,011), and Ashish Ahuja (13th, ₹22,011) also cashed at this tournament.

FTS 3.0 Main Event winner Ankit Wadhawan (19th), Laksh Pal Singh (24th), Shagun Jain (31st), Nitin Arora (39th) and Mithun Mahesh (46th) were some players who couldn’t make it to the top 15 places.

Trending Thursday – ₹16 Lakh GTD

Spartan Poker’s Trending Thursday was indeed a trending affair. The event witnessed 333 entries, out of which the top 31 places were paid. The min-cash at this event stood at ₹14,652 and the advertised guarantee was surpassed generating a final prize pool of ₹16,65,000.

The tournament ended in a deal as Mohit Dhingra aka ‘Bigfox’ grabbed the top spot and took home a paycheque of ₹2,60,014. Deepesh Raka finished at the runner-up spot for ₹2,51,287.
