Eli Elezra Is The 60th WSOP Hall Of Fame Inductee

The World Series of Poker announced the winner of the 2021 Hall of Fame just before the final table of the Main Event. Poker pro Eli Elezra has been announced as the 60th  inductee in the Poker Hall of Fame. The Isreal-born was formerly a businessman, who later pursued poker. The 60-year-old is one of the most well-known names in the poker circuit. Elezra has over $5 million in tournaments earnings. He has won the World Poker Tour Mirage Poker Showdown and has four WSOP gold bracelets to his credit.

In October, WSOP had accepted nominations for the eligible candidates for the 2021 Hall of fame from the poker fans. 10  players including Antonio Esfandiari, Chris Ferguson, Layne Flack, Ted Forrest, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Mike Matusow, Michael Mizrachi, Matt Savage, Isai Scheinberg and Elezra were nominated.

Once the finalists were announced, the current members of the Hall of Fame cast their votes. The votes were tallied and Elezra was declared as the latest inductee to the Hall of Fame beating nine other legends. Elezra becomes the 60th inductee and the 33rd living member in the Hall of Fame.

Talking to PokerNews about his victory, Elezra says, “Amazing, amazing, thank you. For me to be alongside Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and (Barry Greenstein), and even (Jack McClelland) and (Mori Eskandani), all those people…I finally made it.”

Growing up in Jerusalem, Elezra served in the Isreal Defense Force during the Lebanon War. He moved to Alaska after being wounded and worked in different occupations before relocating to Las Vegas. Once he moved to Vegas, he spotted a business opportunity to run a photo processing store, and that’s where he got to know about the game. He eventually became a regular player in high-stakes cash games.

Elezra  says, “Israel is a small country, but there are a lot of poker players from there now, [even though] poker is illegal there. To come from a small country and make the Hall of Fame is a dream come true.”
