APT Vietnam 2022: Sumit Sapra Finishes 12th

The ongoing Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022 has proven to be an excellent series for the Indian contingent so far. Two Indian players, Ankit Jajodia and Sumit Sapra made their way to Day 3 of the coveted Championships event, which is currently underway. Of these, Sapra has fallen at the 12th place for a sum of VND 131,91,000.

Out of the 216 entries at this event, the top 35 places had progressed to Day 3. The event has a total prize pool of VND7 333,200,000 on offer. At level 22, when the blinds ran at 12,000/14,000, Sapra shoved all-in with dimes and was called by Nguyen Van Sang, who held ladies. The board opened to Q T 3 5 9 and both players flopped a set; however, Sapra’s set of tens bowed out against Sang’s queen set. Nguyen eliminated Sapra in the 12th place and thus won the pot in the process. He added about 1.990 million chips to his kitty by eliminating Sapra.

Sapra entered Day 3 with a slightly smaller stack of 256,000 chips at his disposal, which was 23rd among the 35 players. Surviving until the 12th spot, especially at such a competitive field, is indeed an impressive run for Sapra. He is one of the veteran players from the Indian poker circuit with several appearances at international live poker games.

Last month Sapra was seen on the final table of the India Poker Championship (IPC) Megastacks May 2022 Main Event in Nepal. He busted at the seventh spot for ₹6,66,300. He also recently cashed $16,081 by finishing sixth at No-Limit Hold’em – High Roller at World Poker Tour Prime 2022 in Vietnam.

Sapra’s elimination makes Ankit Jajodia the only Indian standing at the APT Vietnam Hanoi 2022 Championships event.
