Dhaval Mudgal is considered to be amongst the best poker players in India. A veteran in every sense, the poker pro has been making waves in the Indian poker circuit for over a decade, and his best-ever live tournament cash (as of Nov 2023) came in 2018, where he played the WPT Vietnam Main Event and ended up winning to pocket a large sum of VND 2,427,520,000 ($104,418/₹76.02 Lakh).
The best way to describe Mudgal is by using his social media bio that reads as, “Music Monkey, Poker junkie. Winning at Whisky drinking and occasionally binking!” The Indian poker pro was also named the captain of the Goan Nuts teams in the Poker Sports League, where he even led his side to victory in PSL Season 2.
Coming from a well-known family, Mudgal is the son of Justice Mukul Mudgal and noted classical vocalist Shubha Mudgal. Following in his mother’s footsteps, he took to the music life and even used to be lead singer in a famous Delhi-based band called Half Step Down.
He started his poker journey when the card game was on the rise in India. Mudgal’s first recorded live cash came back in 2010 when he played the India Poker Championship (IPC) in Goa. The poker pro featured in the ₹25,000 NLHE tournament, where a 5th place finish earned him ₹1,55,000 ($3,387).
A pet lover who also has a keen interest in reading, Mudgal is a personality who loves to enjoy every bit of life. From sports to fine cuisine and travel, he is often seen sharing posts about his voyages on social media. Nicknamed DIRTY in the poker community, Mudgal has played all across the globe in various events and was also the MPL Poker poker pro before joining hands with Pocket52 as well.
