Thursday Round Up: Ashish Ahuja & Anmol Mehta Work Their Magic Once Again


Thursday was a day for PokerBaazi’s The Summit tournament, Spartan Poker’s Trending Thursday & Monster Stack, and Adda52’s Godfather. All these four events are among the highly anticipated tourneys on their respective poker platforms and most of them had a minimum of 500 entries. Yes, as we get closer to the weekend, the competitions set ablaze on virtual poker felts. 

Both the tourneys on Spartan Poker were shipped by well-known grinders while PokerBaazi’s Summit was conquered by a mystery player. Adda52’s marquee Godfather tournament was shipped by lawyer turned poker pro Ashish Ahuja

These are just the headliners, let’s dive into the round-up to get a clear idea of who stood where this Thursday. 

The Summit – ₹15 Lakh GTD

The Summit tournament last week was shipped by Anmol Mehta but this time it was mystery player ‘suneethkalmady’ who cashed ₹5,20,000. The runner up in this tournament was Kumar Vatsal aka ‘23offsuits’ who made ₹3,65,000 in prize money. 

While Kumar Vatsal is the runner-up in this particular tournament but this poker champ had shipped the Monster Stack tournament in the Final Table Series 2.0. He defeated players like Harshad Barve, Amar Mehta, and Final Table Series (FTS) 2020 Main Event winner and FTS 2.0 Big Game winner Arjun Pasricha among others, and cashed a hefty ₹13,51,000. 

The tournament had 314 entries in total and the top 36 players were paid a min-cash of ₹16,010. The buy-in of this tournament was ₹8,250 and several pros tried to clinch the winning spot. The advertised guarantee of this tournament was ₹15 Lakh but it was crushed and an even bigger prize pool of ₹23,55,000 was formed. 

Tanay Hegde, Anmol Mehta, Kunal Patni, 2018 WPT Vietnam Main Event title winner Dhaval Mudgal, Sanat Mehrotra, Ratul Steves, Neel Joshi, and WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer were some of the contenders who tried to conquer this Summit on PokerBaazi.

Trending Thursday – ₹19 Lakh GTD

The trending Thursday tournament on Spartan Poker was a ₹3,859 buy-in event. The top 55 players were paid a min-cash of ₹10,718. This tournament was won by Kanav Parwal aka ‘slickooo’ who took home ₹3,53,717. Parwal was followed by yet another anonymous player ‘virgincow’ who cashed ₹3,39,719. 

Parwal had also shipped the Destiny India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) in January 2021 where he cashed 1,63,279 in winnings. Trending Thursday’s field also had several other pro players like Laksh Pal Singh, Shardul Parthasarathi, Dhaval Mudgal, Amit Saraff, Peter Nazareth, etc.

Monster Stack – ₹9.50 Lakh GTD

The Monster Stack tournament on Spartan Poker was shipped by poker veteran Anmol Mehta aka ‘Anzzzzz’ who loves winning especially the Thursday tourneys. Mehta had a pay day of ₹2,23,299. He was followed by ‘sajet69’ who won ₹1,40,788.

August 2020 GPS #8 Mega Stack winner, Mehta also won The Summit last week and this week he again nailed the Monster Stack on Spartan Poker like a true pro. The ₹2,200 buy-in tournament had 577 entries in total and the top 63 players were paid a min-cash of ₹5,019.

While Mehta may be a Thursday veteran, he had to slog it out as pro players like Manish Lakhotia, Sachin Sharma, Gokul Raj, Devvrat Arya, Ankit Wadhwan were also playing the online poker field.

Godfather – ₹25 Lakh GTD

The Godfather tournament on Adda52 is one of the marquee events that takes place every Thursday. This event had 553 entries in total and the top 55 players were paid a min-cash of ₹12,443. This ₹5,500 buy-in tournament was shipped by Ashish Ahuja aka ‘rocky3705’ who took home a massive cash of ₹6,63,600 in prize money. Ahuja was closely followed by a mystery player ‘bubba88’ who cashed ₹3,87,100.

This could have been a cakewalk for this lawyer turned poker pro Ahuja but he had to compete with players like Ratul Steves, Karann Dembla, Harshad Barve, WSOP bracelet winner Aditya Sushant, IOPC veteran Guruprasad Gupta, Anmol Mehta, Manish Lakhotia, Srihari Bang among others.
