Hailing from Kurukshetra, Haryana, Amit Kaushik is an Indian poker player who has recently been one of the most talked about pros. The Noida based poker player has been making waves in the Indian and Asian circuits with excellent performances on poker tables and virtual felts. He has pocketed huge rewards, citing his performances on various poker platforms in the country. His highest online score till date came in January 2022, where Kaushik claimed the 2nd place while playing India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) ₹1.50 Crore GTD – Blaze Day 2 to pocket ₹16,28,782 on Spartan Poker.
Kaushik, a post graduate in Applied Mathematics from IIT Roorkee, started his poker journey in college. After playing card games with friends in college, Kaushik’s interest in poker grew, which resulted in him starting to watch ‘Poker After Dark’ on YouTube. What began as a fascination later became his full-time profession after the pandemic.
Kaushik began to play poker full-time after taking a break from his corporate career in July 2020. Since then, the poker player has been crushing it online as well as on the live felts. Kaushik has managed to climb up the stakes very fast for someone comparatively new to the poker world! Known for his online MTT exploits, Kaushik has a penchant for winning tournaments.
His first recorded live tournament appearance came in March 2022, where he featured at the Baazi Poker Tour and recorded a 35th-place finish at the NLH BPT Big Bounty Event to pocket ₹25,800, only to win the Deltin Poker Tour (DPT) NLH ₹5K Bounty to earn ₹5,34,140 roughly a month later. His biggest live cash came in May 2023, when he played at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Vietnam in the VND 16,500,000 NLH 8-Max ME Warm Up. He emerged victorious and earned VND 1,006,000,000 ($42,915).
His latest exploits at the U Series of Poker (USOP) Da Nang 2023 saw Indian poker pro ship the Turbo event and pocket payday of VND 72 Million as well. With some impressive outings on tour, Kaushik is determined to do well and move higher up the ladder. Currently ranked amongst the top 50 players in India as per Hendon Mob, Kaushik is close to being amongst the best. It remains interesting to see what the future holds for this talented poker pro.
