More about Jasven Saigal
Jasven Saigal was amongst the earliest members of the Indian poker community. He has been around the block for a while and continues to be a regular participant at live poker tournaments.
A diligent poker player who has won many tournaments, Saigal is an extremely successful grinder. One of his earliest live recorded performances on Hendon Mob dates back to 2011 when he featured in the India Poker Championship (IPC) in Goa. The Mumbai-based poker pro claimed the first prize and shipped the No Limit Hold’em (NLH) event to win ₹1,40,000 ($3,063) alongside the coveted trophy.
Coming from a family that runs a catering business, Saigal first played a poker tournament in 2008. He became so interested in the card game that he began organising cash games at home. Later on, Saigal went on to follow his passion and become a prominent professional poker player.
While it is common for players to have interests apart from the card game, Saigal’s only hobby was learning more about poker. It led to him visiting Goa often and becoming a regular participant at poker tournaments. He is also the co-owner of Aces Unlimited. The brand made a name for itself by offering unique poker tournaments and debuted at Casino Royale in Goa in November 2010.
The seasoned pro fared well in his initial years across the Asian circuit. He went on to register multiple final table finishes during 2012 and 2013 in multiple tournaments like Asian Poker Tour (APT), Macau Poker Cup and APT in Manila.
It also includes successful outings across various tournaments namely U Series of Poker (USOP), Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), World Poker Championship (WPC), and World Poker Tour (WPT) Cambodia amongst others.
Later, he went on to record his biggest live cash in 2019 at the Deltin Poker Tour (DPT) Colossus 200K NLH Main Event with a second place finish in Panjim earning ₹2,000,000 ($28,893).
This poker player is as good on virtual felts as he is when playing live poker. He goes by various screen names like ‘JasvenSaigal’, ‘bajateraho’, ‘Katsuo01’, ‘Katsuo06’ and ‘Ponkey’ or ‘Audifan’ across various platforms. According to PokerGuru, his best online performance came in 2020, when the Mumbaikar registered a second-place finish at the ₹1 Core Full House Finale on Adda52 to walk away with ₹13,00,000 in winnings.
With nearly $400,000 in winnings from live tournaments alongside multiple accolades on virtual felts, Saigal is amongst the respected poker players in the country. With Saigal still grinding hard, don’t be surprised to find yourself sharing a table with the poker veteran.
