Nick Petrangelo Nails Stairway To Millions Finale For $1.02 Million

PokerGO’s Stairway to Millions ended with Nick Petrangelo shipping event #8: $102,000 No-Limit Hold’em. This was Petrangelo’s second consecutive win as he had also shipped event #7: $50K NLH for $567,000 earlier. After clinching the finale, Petrangelo went home with a massive $1,026,000.

Apart from tasting back-to-back victories, Petrangelo also was the only player to cash four times in the eight-tournament series. He cashed nearly $1.6 million in 24 hours. The event took place in the PokerGO Studio at the Las Vegas ARIA Resort and Casino. Another player, Chance Kornuth, also had consecutive wins after shipping events #2 and #3.

Due to his incredible performance at the Stairways to Millions, the Upswing Poker instructor also crossed the $23 million mark in live tournament earnings. Players David Peters and Sean Perry were the two other players who made the money after coming in second and third place, respectively.

The Stairway to Millions series began on 12th January with a $1,000 buy-in NLH tournament. The series gave players a chance to climb up the tournament ladder. Every time a player cashed in an event, they were given a ticket to the next round. However, no player had managed to climb the ladder from start to finish. The final round of players consisted of players who are used to playing in the high-stakes field.

In the end, a total of 19 players entered the $102,000 buy-in tournament. Alex Foxen, who was GPI’s Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019, bubbled the tournament. In total, Petrangelo won a seven-figure payout worth around $1.8 million.
Commenting on his win, Petrangelo said, “Every time you win, it feels great. I was looking forward to this series, and I’m looking forward to playing a lot of live [poker] in general this year… it’s awesome. I’m really happy and fortunate that I’m running well.”
