WSOP 2022 ME: Espen Jorstad And Matthew Su Leading The Final 10

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2022 has been witnessing some intense action over the past few days. The second largest entry field in the history of WSOP Main Events (8,663 entries) has condensed down to the top 10 players.

Event #70: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event concluded its Day 7 earlier today, with the final 10 progressing to Day 8 of the event. Day 7 started with the top 35 players who battled it out to hit the final table of the most prestigious tournament of the series. The remaining 10 players will now lock horns tomorrow on Day 8 for the top prize of $10,000,000.

The day was scheduled to pause after getting the final nine players. However, the fast action lasted over 16 hours, and the organisers decided to end Day 7 when the field was down to the top 10. The play will resume after a day off, i.e., on Friday, 15th July 2022 at 2 PM Las Vegas time (2.30 AM IST, Saturday, 16th July).

Norway’s Espen Jorstad and USA’s Matthew Su are currently leading the pack with 83,200,000 chips (69 BB) each. Croatia’s Matija Dobric follows with 12 BB short, i.e., 68,650,000 chips (57 BB).

“Obviously it’s the dream. Getting it in as the biggest favourite that you can be in the biggest tournament and the biggest spot of your life, feels pretty good. It probably needs to sink in a bit. Right now I’m just omega-exhausted and I need to eat, drink, sleep. Tomorrow I’ll be like ‘oh, it’s pretty awesome,” said Jorstad as he bagged and tagged the biggest stack at the end of Day 7. Who grabs the coveted WSOP 2022 ME title will be the most anticipated element on Day 8.
