Phil Hellmuth In Attack Mode On The Nick Vertucci Show

Poker legend Phil Hellmuth sits down with Hustler Casino LIVE creator on The Nick Vertucci Show for a candid dive into all his past beefs with other top poker players like Daniel Negreanu, Doug Polk, Matt Berkey to name a few. Released on ‘The Nick Vertucci Show’ YouTube channel, Hellmuth talks about everything from why he thinks he’s the best poker player in the world today to his intense Twitter spats.  

The one hour and fifteen-minute-long video titled ‘Phil Hellmuth Attack Mode’ had Vertucci questioning Hellmuth on his infamous beefs with fellow poker pros. And oh boy, the ‘Poker Brat’ did not hold back. Hellmuth took to Twitter to announce the release of the episode with a tweet that read, “Uh oh! @DougPolkVids and @berkey11 have been attacking me for years, I respond to #FakeNewsDoug #DelusionalBerkey Unlike Doug and Berkey, I give them both a measure of praise. But, I speak my mind: THE NICK VERTUCCI SHOW “PHIL HELLMUTH ATTACK MODE” #005.” (sic).

Snippets From The Interview

Among the various interesting moments on the podcast, one was when Vertucci referred to Phil Hellmuth’s blowups and asked him why he receive so much negativity and hate. Hellmuth is honest with his response saying, “The hate is just the byproduct…one thing is I keep telling people I’m the best.” He then referred to Daniel Negreanu who once reportedly said that Hellmuth, “couldn’t paly as good as the average grandmother” and how everyone comments that he can’t beat the high rollers. But how after telling Negreanu that he’s had “up to $1.7 million in high rollers,” Negreanu agrees but never publicly admitted to it, which he believes probably leads to everyone thinking that he’s all talk but no action.

He even took a dig at Matt Berkey after Vertucci asked why players like him, Negreanu, Polk don’t think that Hellmuth is the best poker player in the world. Hellmuth simply said that to him “Berkey doesn’t exist.” And even watched him “plough through money” for a couple years.

At one point, Hellmuth also pointedly addressed Doug Polk and said that if “he (Polk) could be so much bigger that he (currently) is but lost the trust of the poker community.” This is in reference to Polk’s alleged affinity for being selective with his editing and making things seem a different way then what they are.

He continued, saying “All he has to do is cut back the lying and exaggerating by 20% and he’d be much bigger than he is.” Polk and Hellmuth have had Twitter feud in the past, the most recent one was where Polk was critical about Hellmuth’s endorsement for crypto company Bitcoin Latinum, who are facing some series allegations for fraud.
