EPT Barcelona 2023: List Of Winners

The PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona 2023 kicked off amid high energy at Casino Barcelona. The series ran from 21st August to 3rd September 2023 and received a good number of player footfall. This European poker series is among the highly anticipated ones and winning an EPT trophy is a matter of pride for the player.

This time the live poker series crowned a French player named Simon Wiciak as the Main Event champion. He outsmarted a field of 2,120 to grab a pay cheque of €1,134,375. 

The coveted tournament ended in a three way deal but Wiciak took down the trophy and title. The second and third place went to João Sydenstricker and Englishman Carl Shaw for €1,048,550 and €901,070 respectively. 

Talking about the Main Event winner, Wiciak is more of an online grinder, with the latest edition of EPT Barcelona being his first live event. This also happens to be the Frenchman’s best career score of seven figures.

Talking about the Main Event deal, he said, “At three-handed, we were like even,” said Wiciak. “So it was not that easy. And for me, it was a lot of money, that’s why we actually took the deal. If it had been a lower pay jump, maybe I would have refused to play my edge. But with this amount of money, I didn’t refuse it,” added the EPT Barcelona 2023 Main Event champ. (sic)

 

Commenting on his rail the France native said, “Some of my friends were in the club last night, eight hours driving, they just [left] the club, took some stuff with them, and drove eight hours to come here.” 

Wiciak further added, “So, obviously, I’m really, really happy with all of this. And on top of that, I got to [have] a call with my dad, and I heard him crying for the first time. So it was amazing.”
