European Poker Tour: Top 8 Finishes

The European Poker Tour (EPT) is all set to return with a bang, with EPT Barcelona 2023 commencing on 21st August 2023. This poker series is scheduled to go on till 3rd September 2023, with the EPT Cyprus following up in October 2023. With EPT beginning soon, let’s have a look at the players who have managed to record the top eight finishes in the series and reached the EPT final tables.

EPT – Top 8 Finishes

Steve O’Dwyer

To no one’s surprise, Steve O’Dwyer is the first name on the list. Colorado Springs-born poker is amongst the top players in the world right now. He has shined brightly in the previously held EPT tours, bagging the most money in EPT history. He has earned $14,523,376 in the tournament while sitting with total live earnings of $38,391,895.

A few of his notable wins in recent times saw him walk away with $1,171,000 at $100,000 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event (Event #11) at Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Cyprus. He also pocketed $1,006,537 World Poker Tour – WPT Korea No Limit Hold’em – WPT Alpha8 One Drop Korea (Event #10) before cashing at Triton London as well. With 52 final table finishes in EPT, he is going through a purple patch in this tournament. Can O’Dwyer be able to continue this streak? Only time will tell.

Ole Schemion

The Germany-based poker pro loves to grind in EPT, having recorded the 46 final table finishes as well as second-highest earnings in the series history, pocketing $8,316,754 from EPT events. The 30-year-old recently won the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series London $50,000 + 3,000 No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed (Event #5) to pocket $1,350,000, which propelled his total live earnings to $18,683,662.

Ole Schemion is just four final table finishes away from matching the first-ranked O’Dwyer to making the record his own. With EPT Barcelona 2023 almost upon us, it remains interesting to see if he can narrow down the gap this time around.

Konstantin Puchkov

The Russian poker star has managed to reach the final table 41 times in EPT history. He surely is amongst the most successful players in this tournament series and will be eager to add more money to his kitty at the upcoming EPT Barcelona 2023.

Konstantin Puchkov has recorded $3,008,690 in total live earnings. He has not pocketed any major winnings in the recent past, with a mega win seemingly around the corner for him. It remains to be seen the 676th-ranked player in the All Time Money List will manage to shine bright at the upcoming EPT event.

Adrian Mateos

The Spaniard ranks fourth on the list of making the most final table appearances in EPT as of August 2023. He has reached the final table 38 times since the inception of the tournament and is also ranked fifth amongst players with the most earnings in EPT events, pocketing $7,156,883 so far.

With total live earnings of $34,964,993, Adrian Mateos is at the top of Spain’s All Time Money List and 17th on the All Time Money List. With the next EPT stop taking place in Mateos’ country, it would be exciting to see how he fares at EPT Barcelona 2023.

Jean-Noel Thorel

The French poker player finds himself slotted in the 80th position on the All Time Money List having earned $13,282,212 in total live earnings. He is also placed second on the France’s All Time Money List and has 36 final table finishes in EPT history.

The 76-year-old is coming off fresh from a very successful outing at Triton Poker Super High Roller Series 2023 London, having won $2,830,00 for a second place finish in Triton $125,000 + 7,500 No Limit Hold’em – Main Event (Event #11). Thorel earned quite the reputation for his unpredictable gameplay while on final table and heads-up. It remains to be seen if he will be able to carry the form to the upcoming EPT Barcelona 2023.

Apart from the top five, various other well-known poker players are also expected to grace the event and look to walk away with huge winnings at EPT Barcelona 2023. Bryn Kenney has 29 top eight finishes in EPT and is chased by Stephen Chidwick, who has 27 final-table finishes in the tournament series.

The American trio of Nick Petrangelo (22), along with Isaac Haxton (20) and Scott Seiver (20) will also aim to provide fierce competition given their history in the European poker series.
