DPT April 2022: Vaibhav Shah Ships Warm-up Event


The much-awaited Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) April 2022 kick-started yesterday with a bang. The first event in the six-day long tournament series was the 11K Warm-up event. The ₹11,100 buy-in tournament 344 entries locking horns for the title spot at the Deltin Royale casino. The event ended in a three-way deal with Vaibhav Shah shipping the Warm-up title.

Avadh Shah, Kshitij Kucheria and Vaibhav Shah were the last three men standing, out of which Avadh held the largest stack. The three players split the pot, and Avadh took the largest share of ₹5,16,500 from the prize pool. Kucheria and Vaibhav took home ₹5,03,500 and ₹4,28,000 respectively. However, the trio continued to fight for the prestigious DPT title.

The first to bust among the three was Kucheria, leaving the final two for a heads-up battle. Avadh went all-in with A6 and Vaibhav called from the big blind position holding A5. The board opened to 5, 7, 8, 7, 7 giving Vaibhav a full house to clinch the DPT title.

The final table started with Kucheria holding the chip lead over the final eight after Nayan Kumar bubbled the final table at the ninth position for ₹67,400. The first casualty on the final table was the Poker Sports League (PSL) co-founder and CEO, Pranav Bagai, who busted at the eighth spot for ₹89,700.

Next in line was India Online Poker Champion (IOPC) January 2021 Mastermind and Millionaire Legends winner, Aniket Waghmare, who busted at the hands of Ishan Pandya in the seventh-place for ₹1,12,000. After scoring an elimination, Pandya’s run on the final table came to an end. He departed in the sixth position with a pay cheque of ₹1,34,600.

Another online reg Vishal Bajaj was also eliminated in the fifth spot for ₹1,61,400. Finally, Shashank Murarka finished 4th and walked away with ₹1,61,400 in his bankroll.
