Reliance Jio launches ‘Jiomart Gameathon’, Starting 30 Oct

Reliance Jio traverses the world of Esports with the launch of Jiomart Gameathon, their first online gaming tournament. The free Esport tournament will kick start on the 30th of October and will continue till November 1st.

The company has partnered with Garena Free Fire to increase its reach in the gaming world. With Free Fire being one of PUBG Mobile’s biggest competitors, this tournament may hopefully fill the gap in the industry left with the recent PUBG Mobile ban.

The tournament will be broadcasted live via YouTube and JioTV, according to a support page created for the tournament. It is also important to note that it will be a mobile-only tournament, and tablets, triggers, emulators, and more will not be allowed.

A total of 576 teams of four members will be competing to qualify for the first round of the competition. Out of which 96 teams will go for quarterfinals, 24 teams in semi-finals and 12 teams in the grand finale.

The JioMart Gameathon has a prize pool of Rs 25,000 with the winning team getting Rs 16,000 followed by Rs 12,000 for the runner-up and the most valuable player (MVP) getting Rs 1000. The company will credit the winning prize to the players’ JioMart wallet.

And although the prize pool may be smaller when compared to most gaming tournaments, the tournament itself could be a big step forward in introducing more Esports tournaments to India.

The JioMart Gameathon page is live on JioGames and interested players can register for it here. Also, for more gaming and esports news from around the world, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com.
