PhotoOfTheDay: Zarvan Tumboli’s Selfie With Scotty Nguyen Is GOLD!

Spartan Poker pro Zarvan Tumboli is currently in the mecca of poker—Las Vegas, to grind at the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship 2022. Being the social butterfly that he is, we weren’t surprised when the Parsi boy was regularly sharing updates on his Instagram handle, right from boarding the flight from Mumbai to grinding at the tables. But what caught our eye (and hearts too!), was a recent picture Tumboli shared from the Wynn Las Vegas. 

The Mumbai-based pro shared a selfie posing alongside poker legend Scotty Nguyen. And it was simply adorable! Tumboli captioned the picture with Nguyen’s legendary words, “The legend. You call and its over babayyy.” (sic)

That’s not all. He further shared a video with the ‘prince of poker.’ The two pros are seen in a fun conversation.

We got in touch with Tumboli to learn about his interaction with Nguyen. He said, “We were playing the milestone satellite together and had a good talkative fun table.”

Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American professional poker player. He’s won five World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets in his career. The most notable of his wins are the 1998 WSOP Main Event, and the 2008 WSOP $50,000 HORSE World Championship victory. Winning these two titles made him the first player ever to nail both the WSOP Main Event and $50,000 Players’ Championship. Till date, he continues to hold the record.

Tumboli on the other hand, has been enjoying a dream year so far. He shipped a total of six titles in the Asian circuit. First, the pro shipped the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) High Roller in March 2022. In May, he clinched the World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Vietnam 2022 Main Event title, followed by the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Deep Stack Hyper Turbo and the Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) title within 24 hours in June 2022. He then shipped another PLO event at WPT Prime Cambodia 2022 in August. Finally, he clinched the PokerStars $300 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT Cambodia) Mini Main Event last month.

It will be interesting to see how Tumboli ends the year. Apart from Tumboli, WSOP bracelet winner India’s Abhinav Iyer is also grinding at the series.
