Oscar Gironella Ships WPT Prime Madrid 2023

Oscar Gironella has become the newest World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime champion by taking down WPT Prime Madrid at Casino Gran Via. Gironella earned a prize of €56,925, which includes a $10,400 seat in the 2023 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. 

 WPT Prime Madrid drew a field of 396 entrants from four starting flights. The sum generated a prizepool of €366,370 ($387,858), which paid out the top 51 finishers. A min-cash provided players €1,920, while the first-place prize sat at €84,830. 

An ICM deal was made during heads-up action that solidified Gironella’s payout as €56,925 and Juan Gonzalo Ares’ payout as €66,075. Following the agreement, the two players battled it out for the Prime title.

Gonzalo Ares finished as the official runner-up. He was preceded by Julen Lijo (3rd place – €35,600), Ji Yang (4th place – €26,490), Jean Carlos Chacon (5th place – €20,000), and rounding out the final table was Francois Robert (6th place – €15,200). Click here for a full list of USD payouts. 

This concludes the regular-season Prime festivals. Next up on the mid-stakes tour is the grand finale, the WPT Prime Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. The $1,100 buy-in tournament runs in the middle of the WPT World Championship festival from 7th – 12th December with a televised final table date of 19th December.

The upcoming WPT World Championship 2023 offers a guaranteed prize pool of $40 Million. After the record-breaking $15 Million GTD in 2022 WPT World World Championship, many players from across the globe will look to create history in the 2023 edition of the World Championship event.
