Live Poker Rooms In Singapore

Online poker and gambling may not be legal in Singapore, but that does not stop it from becoming one of the most charming live poker hubs in Asia. The Lion City has some of the hottest poker rooms, extravagant casino hotels and cruises with glamorous gambling halls, slot machines, roulette wheels, and more. Apart from these, there is live entertainment, fine dining and spacious lounges that give you a taste of luxury.

A British gambling consultancy suggests that Singaporeans are the second biggest gamblers in the world, even though the country has strict laws against gambling.

The Singapore government allowed the construction of two integrated casino resorts in 2004. These were the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa. Two years later, the Casino Control Act was enacted in order to legalise the casino operations in the two properties. This was done primarily to promote tourism as well as to increase revenues through tax.

Even though it was legalised, there were certain conditions. According to the act, only the said two casinos could operate and with the full offering of a ‘resort’ to complement the Hotel and Casino. Additionally, these casinos were permitted to allow foreign tourists to enter for free, and charge SG $100 from local tourists. Interestingly, the island country does not tax poker winnings.
