Josh Arieh reportedly announced on Twitter that he would be buying the World Series of Poker (WSOP) from Caesars Entertainment for $800 million. Well, not really, but there was a time when he could almost actually do it. Yes, the WSOP 2021 Player of the Year, came very close to winning around $1 billion in a lottery, which if he did, he joked that he would end up buying WSOP. Now, wouldn’t that be nice?
The tweet was posted by Arieh from his Twitter handle called @golferjosh where he told his followers that he was flattered that so many of them trusted him with their piece of the $1 billion. Arieh was playfully joking with his followers saying that if he actually won, he might do something shocking just so he could “have fun f****** with them.”
I’m flattered that there’s this many people that trust me w their piece of $1b.
After we win, I’m gonna have so much fun fkn with y’all!

Josh Arieh As WSOP Owner
After his tweet about buying WSOP, some of his followers asked Arieh what would be the first change he made. To this, Arieh replied that food trucks, vending machines, and live music would be included in tournament rooms.
There will be food trucks, vending machines and live music in the tournament rooms. Final tables played at the top of Eiffel Tower. All streamed on the Ocho, with 36 different camera view options https://t.co/EFT639P9LU

The Context
Well, the entire conversation started when poker podcast Cracking Aces tweeted that the four-time WSOP bracelet winner revealed that he brought $35,000 worth of lottery tickets and came pretty close to winning the $1.6 billion jackpot. This was after they announced their Apple podcast with Arieh was live.
We asked Josh about this on the podcast- the time he bought $35,000 worth of lottery tickets and how close he was to winning the $1.6 billion jackpot https://t.co/HAXZ0wAJhX pic.twitter.com/VDu9hKNMqQ

Yes, the poker community’s most lovable player was almost a billionaire overnight. However, despite investing heavily in the lottery Arieh still did not win. Yikes! A username called @Hockey_Poker replied that he remembered that lottery which was a Powerball (PB) drawing in 2018 and that a young woman in South Carolina won that sweet $1.6 billion. Some stated that it wasn’t the Powerball but the Mega Millions lottery.
However, Arieh did not totally go into a loss. After one user asked how much of the $35,000 did he managed to recover, Arieh replied that they hit a ticket worth $10,000 and his total winnings were around $13,000.
Followers Responses
After people got wind of Arieh’s stunt in the lottery, they started tweeting and asking for a piece next time. Some of his followers even asked where they could send him the money for their share.
Where can I send $$

His other followers began listing out other popular poker players like Matt Glantz, and Daniel Negreanu who they thought should have been included as investors. Arieh even contacted Glantz and posted his conversation on Twitter.

After receiving so many positive responses, the 2022 Poker Hall of Fame nominee finally decided to go for it and tweeted his plan for the Mega Millions. He told his followers that they could buy 1 or 2 shares for $500. Looks like all this talk about winning the jackpot has gotten Arieh riled up and ready.
