IOPC Day 1: Dhruvin Kothari Grabs The Biggest Pay Cheque


Day 1 of the India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) Jan/Feb 2023 on Spartan Poker kick-started with a bang. And the 14th edition of the massively popular series turned out to be the most profitable on Day 1 for Dhruvin Kothari. This player shipped the biggest tournament of night—Thursday Night ₹45 Lakh GTD for a hefty payday. Other winners of Day 1 include regs like Anuj Yadav, Gopal Bajaj, Ujjwal Narwal, Abhishek Sonu and Kiran Ainala. Let’s take a look at how the exciting night unfolded on the virtual felts.

IOPC #1 – Launch Party – ₹20 Lakh GTD

Mystery players ‘Haywire910’ and  ‘jaybholay’ ended the tournament in a deal. The title winner took home ₹2,73,382 and ‘jaybholay’ had a payday of ₹2,68,821.

IOPC #2 – ₹11 Lakh GTD

A well-known name from the online poker circuit, Snehil Agarwal took down the top title after striking a deal with Michael Keishing. Agarwal’s prize money stood at ₹2,08,503 while Keishing added ₹1,94,831 to his bankroll.

IOPC #4 – Monster Stack – ₹8 Lakh GTD

Online reg Ujjwal Narwal shipped the Monster Stack event for a payday of ₹2,15,341. The second place finisher was IOPC July 2021 leaderboard champ Anuj Yadav. He added ₹1,30,987 to his bankroll. Online reg Tarush Gupta finished 10th for ₹13,201 while Thursday Prime’s second place holder Parag Shah finished 12th for ₹11,807.

IOPC #5 – Thursday Prime – ₹45 Lakh GTD

A not so popular player from the circuit, Kiran Ainala struck a deal with online reg Parag Shah to end this tourney. Ainala laughed his way to the bank with ₹7,61,607. Shah bumped up his bank account by ₹6,48,427. FTS Main Event champion Arsh Grover took the fourth spot for ₹3,03,408. Harshad Barve finished seventh for ₹1,39,513 while FTS 3.0 winner Ankit Wadhwan ended in the 10th spot for ₹62,758.

IOPC #6 – Thursday High – ₹35 Lakh GTD

The winner of this tournament became the biggest winner of the night. And that title clincher is Dhruvin Kothari for ₹8,75,215. This marquee tournament ended in a deal wherein a mystery player called ‘KAKAROT98$’ took an impressive pay cheque of ₹7,12,824. Fifth spot was taken by Neel Joshi for payday of ₹2,95,200. Kanchan Sharma took the seventh spot for ₹1,78,000.

IPC Megastacks May 2022 Mystery Bounty winner Vivek Singh finished sixth for ₹2,32,800.

IOPC #7 – Thursday Spotlight – ₹20 Lakh GTD

Gopal Bajaj and Kovid Saraswat struck a deal to end the Thursday Spotlight event. Bajaj, who’s an online reg won ₹3,66,725 in prize money while Saraswat added ₹3,43,012 to his bankroll. Gutshot’s Jan 2021 cover star Gaurav Sood came fourth for ₹1,54,761.

IOPC #8 – All Rounder Deepstack – ₹11 Lakh GTD

Vikas Yadav ended the last event of the night in a deal with a mystery player called ‘JIMMY BOY.’ Yadav had a payday of ₹2,04,206 while the anonymous player added ₹1,93,333 to his poker winnings.
