Harshit Sanghi Wins Biggest-Ever IOPC Main Event!


Delighting its fan throughout the 18-day long festival, India’s exceptional and extremely popular online poker series, the 2020 India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) July 2020 has finally come to an end with a bang! Enormous prize pool, dazzling tournaments, and fantastic cash prizes left no room for us to miss live poker! Over two weeks of mind-bending online action, enthusiasts across the country battled it for the crowning title.

Spartan Poker‘s most prestigious series featured a total series prize pool of INR 25 Crore GTD between 9 to 26 July, setting another market-record. Packed with 121 tournaments along with the phenomenal Millionaire and High Roller events, including INR 3 Crore GTD Main Event, the biggest single tournament in India till date which has been taken down by Harshit Sanghi aka ‘HeroCaller’.

The July edition’s ME comprised of eight starting flights across six days, packed with superb action, for the players were running to grab the regal 18K pure gold crown. Sporting INR 11,000 buy-in, the competition attracted a monstrous field of 4,081 entries and Sanghi who “couldn’t believe that it actually happened” at 4:21 am in the morning, shipped it for INR 47+ Lakhs. The Main Event calculated a gigantic sum, posting the biggest-ever prize pool of INR 4.08 Crores in the series’ history!

In January 2020, the showstopper Millionaire Main Event guaranteed INR 3 Crore. Back then, the event created a record-breaking INR 3.49 Crore prize pool and Anurag Srivastava aka ‘Norman Bates’ triumphed the night, pocketing INR 59+ Lakh in cash prize. And these numbers tell us how much the IOPC brand has grown over the years.

Now let’s see what went down on Day 18 of IOPC…

IOPC #115 INR 6L GTD

The first event on the final day of Spartan Poker’s IOPC kicked off with 429 entries with each chipping in as low as INR 1,650 buy-in. Drawing INR 6.43 Lakhs prize pool, the top 39 spots received a payout. Coming out on top was ‘cantwinflips’ who outlasted ‘espesito123’ in heads-up in level 48 of the tournament with 9922 over his opponent’s 99 to claim the IOPC title!

IOPC #116 Monster Stack INR 5L GTD

At 3:30 pm, IOPC Event 116 clocked in 730 entries on Spartan Poker. Sporting a buy-in of INR 880, the event accumulated INR 5.84 Lakhs in prize pool. A min-cash of INR 2.2K was shared among the top 71 players. The last man standing was circuit regular Sethuram Kannan aka ‘Setherson8’ who knocked out ‘Jeevan123’ in heads-up to bag the top prize.

IOPC #117 Sunday SuperStack INR 60L GTD

A total of 1,184 strong field was recorded in the popular Sunday flagship tourney on Spartan Poker. The INR 5,500 buy-in tourney, successfully accumulated INR 59.20 Lakhs prize pool which was shared among the top 119 spots walking out with INR 13.5K in min-cash.. Seizing his first IOPC July 2020 title was ‘Rolling1’ who emerged victorious and clinched to the first prize and ‘GoldSpot’ finished runner-up. The champion also finished fourth in IOPC #119 INR 6.5 Lakhs GTD. 

IOPC #118 Destiny – IOPC Edition SNG

One of the featured events on the final day of the series was IOPC Destiny SNG. It was Siddarth Singhvi aka ‘PeterPunter’ who took down the event for INR 2.5 Lakhs while Ankit Wadhawan aka ‘Shippament’ finished runner-up for along with Anirudh Reddy aka ‘flash’, rounding up the top three ITM finishes. IOPC #119 INR 6.5L GTD

With a buy-in of INR 1,100, Event 119 wrangled in 623 entries on Spartan Poker, culminating in INR 6.23 Lakhs prize pool. The champion of the night was ‘American Airlines’ who captured the top prize after heads-up deal with Zochhuanmawia Lailung aka ‘Timeghoul’. Level 49 of the tournament saw the former carrying a larger stack of 3.7 million while Lailung had 2.4 million, this gave away the largest portion to the anonymous player.

IOPC #121 Big Daddy INR 15L GTD

The 18-day long festival ended with INR 15 Lakhs GTD IOPC Big Daddy crowned a champion in well-known circuit grinder Sathish Ananth aka ‘Jaqkten’ who overcame a field of 734 entries and walked away with the largest chunk of the final prize pool. The event ended with a three-way deal in level 45 and the top 63 players finished in the money. Mystery players ‘dancingshrimp’ and ‘ConMan’ finished second and third place.
