GGPoker gives banned players a second chance on their site

Currently hosting their chunk of the WSOP 2020 Online festival, German poker player Tobias Duthweiler called out GGPoker in a post on TwoPlusTwo forum, saying that the poker site banned him and confiscated his money after going on a winning streak, two weeks ago. Duthweiler’s post created a lot of controversy for GGPoker as the poker community agreed and disagreed with the alleged accusations.

Duthweiler had been previously banned from a GGPoker skin, and was allowed to re-register and play. He lost a lot during his sessions on the platform. He managed to regain and boost his bankroll to $180,000 in a span of 10 days, but the site confiscated the account, following the security protocol of the company. Eventually he was given his initial deposit which was $50,000.

Now all of a sudden, the platform is accepting applications from those who desire to be reinstated just days after some pros claimed they were permanently banned simply for winning too much money. While extending an olive branch, players who wish to join will need to submit their previous username, date of ban, the name on their passport and a copy of government issued ID by 5 September.

Once the application would be reviewed and approved, the account will be reinstated, but no guarantees the application will be accepted. Fedor Holz, an ambassador of GGPoker, denied the claims that the players were being targeted and banned. Holz put up a series of posts defending the poker site and suggested the reasons could be based on ‘bum-hunting’, a term used for pros who specifically seek out losing players. GGPoker released a breakdown of what makes a good pro, regular pro and a bad pro. The reason behind is to ensure that a healthy ecosystem is maintained between the platers and the poker site.

According to their website, GGPoker stated, “We understand the activities of bad pros are not illegal by law. However, as a poker operator entitled to protect the game and ecology, we define these activities as cheating and strictly punish them within our rights. GGPoker needs to manage these kinds of pros and we do everything we can to make sure everyone plays in a fair environment – this helps ensure there are great games to play each time a player logs back into GGPoker, today, tomorrow and into the future.”

GGPoker has been constantly upgrading their security and also adding new features to enhance user experience on their platform. For more updates on GGPoker and it’s latest features, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com
