Four-Time WSOPC Ring Champ Kidnapped For Money?


As per news reports, four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit ringer champion George Janssen was allegedly kidnapped and held hostage for money.

This poker player from Bad Axe, Michigan was reportedly kidnapped as a part of an extortion bid which was meant to last for two years. 

As per a news report published by PokerNews, Janssen had his hands zip-tied and was bloodied when found on a rural road in Meade Township. A passerby spotted the poker player and called in the incident to the authorities. ABC 12 reported a dispatcher calling the case ‘suspicious situation’ after the incident came to light. 

As per media reports, Janssen is a poker player who was into car dealerships. As per Hendon Mob he has over $440,000 in total live earnings. This could have been the reason for the kidnapping, state the news reports on Janssen’s abduction.

A family member of the Michigan based poker player told local media reporters that Janseen was kidnapped by two or three people and was held in the basement of a Toledo home for nearly 35 days before the culprits drove him back to Hurron County on 16th December.

The WSOPC champ’s family reported him missing on 13th November, stated a news report by ABC 12. The report further added that a family friend found Janssen’s car with $50 bills in the car lying around; police photos confirm finding Janssen’s car.

Many local media reports on Janssen’s abduction also stated how he was kidnapped since he made good money playing poker.

He ranks under 7,000 in the All Time Money List and under 60 in Michigan All Time Money List. His best live cash stands at over $80K from a Mid Stakes Poker Tour (MSPT) event at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
