The ongoing Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) March 2022 edition has been running full steam. The starting flights for the Main Event (ME) have proved to be fierce battles. Day 1A and 1B took place on Saturday with Kapil Arora bagging the highest chip count. Day 1C and 1D concluded yesterday with Varun Gupta leading the survivors ahead of Day 2.
Day 2 of the ME will take place today at PokerBaazi LIVE aboard Majestic Pride in Goa. The ME is a ₹35,000 buy-in event with four-starting flights. With live events returning post the pandemic break, the event was a huge hit and received a record-breaking 900 entries over four flights. Day 1A received 332 entries, Day 1B had 103 entries, Day 1C received 328 entries, and Day 1D had 137 entries.
The event has generated a massive prize pool of ₹2.96 Crore, which is also the largest ME prize pool ever generated in India. This prize pool has surpassed the previous record of ₹2.65 Crore generated during the 2019 India Poker Championship (IPC) Main Event which had a player field of 777 entries.
Gupta will commence Day 2 with a stack of 543,000 chips. He is a former MoneyMaker 5.0 champion and has also won an APT Main Event title in 2017 for HKD 300,400. His chip lead and history of notable titles make him a strong contender for the BPT ME title.
The Main Event will commence today at 4 PM. Stay tuned to gutshotmagazine.com for the latest updates on BPT.
