It was on the very first hand of the heads-up play when the winner of this tourney was decided. Hellmuth and his rival locked horns for the bracelet. Both players limped in and saw a flop of 8♠ K♣ 4♠. Here, Hellmuth had 8 4 and Zaki played with 7 6 . The turn came 4 and Hellmuth hit a full house. The river was K which sealed the deal for Hellmuth’s record-breaking 17th WSOP gold bracelet.

Phil Hellmuth vs Phil Ivey

It’s one hell of a day at the World Series Of Poker 2023 Super Turbo Bounty event. Why so? This one day event saw 16-time WSOP bracelet winner kick out Phil Ivey. Yes folks, just the other day we reported how the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner had shut down Hellmuth with his comment when the latter blabbered a lot to Ivey in the Poker Players Championship event. Looks like Hellmuth showed Ivey who’s the boss in a hand which saw Ivey exit the Super Turbo Bounty event.

Level 33 when blinds were at 200,000/400,000, big blind ante 400,000, Ivey from under the gun position moved all-in and his rival Hellmuth re-jammed from the middle position holding Pocket Rockets. Ivey KTs had an uphill task of beating pocket aces.

The dealer fanned out a flop of 4♠Q4. This gave Hellmuth two pairs and kept him ahead. The turn brought J♥ and that gave Ivey a straight draw. But a 3♣ river meant it was time for Ivey to pack up and leave the tournament in sixth place for $133,461.
