WSOP 2022: Official First Look!

The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is around the corner and officials have revealed the first look of the new WSOP venue at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. On 26th May, an assorted media tour and a press conference was held to introduce people to the new WSOP venue.

Poker players looking forward to WSOP this year, not only received the first glimpse of the venue but also received answers to many questions about the space. These included questions on registrations, parking areas, restaurants, poker rooms and more.

Executive Director of WSOP, Ty Stewart and Vice President of WSOP, Jack Effel, accompanied by Senior Vice President and General Manager of Paris Las Vegas, Jason Gregorec gave a tour of the new space for the tournament series. Apart from this, long time WSOP commentating duo Lon McEachern and Norman Chad also featured in a video offering valuable information.

Gold bracelets revealed

Among the many things that the press conference covered, it also revealed the WSOP gold bracelets for this year. However, the Main Event (ME) bracelet was not shown. Officials indicated that the ME bracelet would not be ready until the end of June. Despite the delay, it was hinted that the bracelet will include special features that will leave the players besotted.

Biggest WSOP yet?

WSOP officials are clear about their expectations that this year’s edition of the popular tournament series will be the biggest so far. This is not only in terms of space and staff, but also in turnouts to the events. As of now, they have about 582 tables and over 1,000 dealers for the event, both at an all-time high. While Stewart rarely speculates about such things, when it came to the Main Event, he said that he is expecting over 8,775 players and believes it could be the largest ever.

Highlight events

While the Main Event has always been the feature of WSOP, other events like the $500 Housewarming event on the opening weekend, the $1,000,000 Bounty Event on 2nd July (which will have bounties ranging from $1,000 – $1 million on Day 2), and the Tournament of Champions have also been highlighted. The Tournament of Champions will be opened to all live and online WSOP bracelet winners including all the players who have captured rings on the WSOP Circuit between last year’s WSOP and this summer.

Where is the Horseshoe Las Vegas brand?

Many were hopeful that Bally’s would be rebranded to Horseshoe Las Vegas by the time WSOP 2022 started. However, it seems like that will be unlikely with Gregorec indicating that it’s more of ‘a very slow opening.’ Despite this news, the Horseshoe brand is expected to still work its way into WSOP and the property as the summer progresses. This also means the closure of Bally’s poker room later in the summer will be renovated into a Horseshoe WSOP poker room.

Other highlights:

• The bracelet ceremonies will be held at the Paris Ballroom.
• Some tournaments may require a 10-handed play due to large turnouts, but tournament officials will try as much as they can to make it 9-handed as often as possible.
• There will be more feature tables in the Bally’s Event Centre that will host all bracelet event final tables. There will also be expanded spectator opportunities to hype up the place for special bracelet moments.

Parking at WSOP 2022

There will be two major parking facilities and valet services for those who will come to play in the series:

1. Paris Las Vegas Parking Garage – You can park here, walk the path, take the escalator, and you will end up next to the Paris Conference Centre. This is where the main WSOP cage, cash games, and Day 1 tables are situated.
2. Bally’s Parking Lot – this is located behind Bally’s. Players can park here, walk up the stairs and into the Bally’s Event Centre. This is where all the Final Tables, streaming and TV production, Day 2 and restart tables are situated.
3. Valet services will also be available at the main hotel entrances of both properties.
