WPT Prime Taiwan 2023: ME Winner, Total Entries, Prize Pool And More

A champion has been crowned in the largest World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Main Event in history (aside from the WPT Prime Championship). Seonguk Huh, from Korea, took down the WPT Prime Taiwan. 

He toppled a field of 1,359 entries at the Asia Poker Arena on Monday, capturing the top prize of TWD 6,319,800 (USD $197,741), which includes a $10,400 seat in the 2023 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. 

 The second annual WPT Prime Taiwan, held in association with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club, set a Prime tour record for entries, at 1,359, surpassing the 1,224-mark set by WPT Prime Gold Coast earlier in the year. 

The TWD 33,000 tournament recorded a prizepool of TWD 39,546,900 (USD $1,237,387) that paid out the top 172 finishers.

Yannick Leonard, hailing from France, was the WPT Prime Taiwan runner-up, earning TWD 4,212,000. He was preceded by his fellow final tablists Seung Hun ‘Manny’ Ko (3rd place – TWD 3,118,000), Jacky Wang (4th place – TWD 2,332,000), Tung Wing Wong (5th place – TWD 1,760,000), and Dongkyu Kim (6th place – TWD 1,342,000). During the Main Event, following the record-breaking registration number, it was announced that the World Poker Tour will return to Taipei City for a third consecutive year. The 2024 WPT Prime Taiwan festival will run from 6th to 19th August.
