What Did Birthday Wishes For Doyle Brunson Look Like?

Poker veteran Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson turned 89 years old yesterday, and the global poker community celebrated his birthday in the most heartwarming way. Wishes poured in for this godfather of poker all over social media, from top pros and other industry folks talking about how inspirational he is.

While players wished Brunson from their personal social media handles, brands like PokerNews and World Poker Tour (WPT) took the initiative of bringing the top names from the industry together to extend their best wishes.

The video starts with poker maestro and 16-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth speaking about how he admires Brunson being 89-years-old and is still winning games and making money through poker. Hellmuth is followed by popular Tournament Director Matt Savage talking about how is at the golf course losing his money and wishing Brunson on his birthday.

Next in the video one can see poker writer and WSOP commentator Norman Chad wishing the poker dynamo on his birthday. Chad appears in a bad mood in the video and he explains the reason for his mood. Female pro Terry King is seen next wishing Brunson. She shares that she has known him since he was 38 years old and wishes to know him for the next 50 more years to come.

Poker veteran Stu Ungar’s daughter Stefanie Ungar, who says that in 89 years he has done so much, survived a lot and is still going strong. Marsha Waggoner also makes her presence felt by singing an adorable birthday song for Texas Dolly. 

The highlight of the video was 2021 WSOP Poker Hall of Famer Eli Elezra’s wish for Brunson. In the video Elezra is seen sitting alongside Brunson, as he credits Brunson for his Hall of Fame achievement and also how Brunson is the reason he is playing poker. He also shared that the two were playing Chinese poker while shooting the video. The video ends with his family, Todd Brunson’s wife and little grandson wishing their beloved grandfather. The little boy arguing on how he loves his grandfather more leaves us with a smile on our faces.

In this video it is Tony Dunst and Vince Van Patten who start by talking about the godfather of poker, and wishing him on his birthday. Next seen in the video is YouTuber and WPT ambassador Andrew Neeme, who goes on to introduce himself and saying that maybe Brunson doesn’t even know him, but he knows him and he’s been watching the old man for years now. Interestingly, Brunson is also a WPT ambassador.

Neeme also shared a small clip of Brunson as an example. He ends his video by saying he wishes to continue watching his clips and hopefully playing with him someday at the WPT. Savage is seen in this video too, thanking Brunson for helping him and his family. Other notable names like Brad Owen and Lynn Gilmartin are also seen sharing stories with Brunson and extending their birthday wishes. 

Indian poker pro Siddharth Siddharth also shared a picture with Brunson on his Instagram as he wrote “Happy 89th Birthday Texas Dolly!🤠”

Brunson has truly been an inspiration to many in the poker world. With 10 WSOP gold bracelets to his name, Brunson has etched his name in poker history and is a solid source of inspiration for generations to come. We wish Brunson a very Happy Birthday. May you keep grinding till you are 100 and beyond Texas Dolly!
