This Runner-Runner Royal Flush Turned The Tables At Triton

How many times do you see a runner-runner unfold in front of your eyes? Not many because the hand only occurs 0.000154% times with odds standing at 649,739:1. But at the Triton Super High Roller Series at Monte Carlo 2023, players on a table saw a hand end in Viacheslav Buldygin hit a runner-runner royal flush against Jans Arends.

Arends was playing with A8o and his rival had KQs. The player from the Netherlands was all-in with $56K and the Russian player snap-called. The curiosity was heightened as this hand would surely lead to an elimination. The deal fanned out a flop of 8h 9d As.

This flop kept Arends ahead with his two pairs. But the turn of Ts made things pretty interesting. Nerves were getting wrecked as one player was all-in. The river of Js made it official that two pairs were no good against Buldygin who hit a royal flush.

What did this Russian do next? Obviously, he took a selfie with that run out. Buldygin immediately said ‘picture, picture.” We are not surprised nor were the commentators in that game, who were happy to see Buldygin so jubilant. The table had players like Spanish pro Adrian Mateos, Brynn Kenney, Jean-Noel Thorel and Ren Lin.

Talking about the player who hit the runner-runner royal flush, Buldygin is also champion at Triton Poker Series. In May 2023, the North Cyprus stop of this super high roller series saw this Russian player ship the $50K NLH 7 Handed tournament. This game saw participants like Sean Winter, Jason Koon, Punnat Punsri, Justin Bonomo, Mike Watson, and Dan Smith.

A total of 104 entries had registered for this game, with the top spot winner grabbing a payday of $1,342,000. And why not, the Russian knocked out six of his final table rivals who were vying for a prize pool of $5,200,000.
