There’s $1 Million GTD And Then A Joker On The Flop

We are 100% sure that our headline has your attention. At the PokerNews Cup 2022 hosted at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas a Joker showed up on the flop of a $1 Million GTD event. But is this the golden news we wanted to share with you? Of course not. The stars were just not aligned for this tournament to run smoothing and something odd happened.

On Monday during the Day 2 session of the $1,100 No-Limit Hold’em event, a jaw-dropping flop was revealed on one of the tables. This happened on the very first hand of the $1 Million GTD event. The dealer fanned the cards of  {2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, and then there was a Joker.

Not sure how but a Joker card did show on the flop which left some amused while some were in shock. As per PokerNews, one player who was seated at another table took a video of this unconventional incident and shared the same on the YouTube channel of PokerNews.

PokerNews Cup 2022: Joker card ruins it

If the players grinding at the PokerNews Cup 2022 were hoping for a magical flop then yes, magic did happen. But the sad part is that the event was a No-Limit Hold’em tournament and not a Joker’s Wild wherein players can utilize the Joker as a wild card in the hand.

We know what you are thinking! Where was the floor manager? Worry not! The floor manager was called and the matter of the Joker card was resolved when the hand was declared dead. Yes, the hand was indeed declared null and void and the chips in the pot were returned to their rightful owners. And just like any other happy-go-lucky film, this drama also ended with everyone feeling happy about their chips being returned and a new hand being dealt.

Not the first goof-up

In the year 2015, in a high-stakes cash game on Poker Central which is now PokerGO, well-known poker players Doug Polk and Dan Colman witnessed one of the most shocking flops ever in poker history. In a $6,400 pot, the flop opened  {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. You read that correctly, just keep reading further. Players on the table immediately noticed the two queens of the same suit that fell on the flop. No need to scratch your heads here, the hand was pronounced dead.
