Resorts World Genting (RWG), a prominent entertainment and hospitality destination in Malaysia, has announced the immediate temporary shutdown of two of its three casinos. Effective from today, Genting Casino 1 (Circus Palace) and Genting Casino 2 (Hollywood) will be closed until further notice.

The gaming group posted an official announcement on the Resorts World Genting website, notifying patrons about the temporary closure. While no specific reason was provided for the casino shutdowns, guests are encouraged to visit SkyCasino for their gaming needs during this period. There’s no official reason as to why they’ve shut down, or no date as to when they intend to resume operations. However, one can speculate that the move comes because of a significant dip in visitors in the last few years since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic across the world.

The footfall has drastically dropped but tourists still travel to the very beautiful SkyCasino. The news comes just a couple of days after we reported that things are looking good for Malaysia, because of visa-free travel and a historically low Ringgit, which was expected to boost tourism, and the number of visitors going to these casinos on a daily basis. The news also came on Genting Founder’s Day, as the company celebrates its 7^th anniversary today.
