PokerStars Player of the Month – Harsh Dembla

Harsh Dembla may be a recreational player but he’s one of the top online poker players in the country. Last year in October, he was picked as BLITZPOKER’s Player of the Month, which further shows that this poker enthusiast is good at his game. Even when 2022 rolled in, Dembla continued to crush the online felts on other poker platforms.

Dembla was once again selected as the Player of the Month for PokerStars (February 2022). The Faridabad-based player has been an active grinder on PokerStars and even shipped two of the brand’s high roller events. We were keen to know his reaction to his latest achievement and had a little chat with him. “It feels amazing to be awarded the player of the month title once again,” said Dembla.

Given his brilliant online run, we still couldn’t believe that Dembla hasn’t gone the professional route. When asked about it he said, “I didn’t choose to become a professional as I have other responsibilities in my family business. I enjoy playing recreationally as you don’t have any burden of results and performance.”

Coming to the topic of who he enjoys playing against on the final tables, he replied, “I enjoy playing on the final table against Anuj Yadav aka ‘brockLesnar95’ on PokerStars. He’s one of the best players right now in India. He plays very creatively which makes him one of the best opponents to play against. I enjoy playing against him as he gives you a tough time on the final table.” Well then, we can’t wait to witness a heads up where these two lock horns!

Being picked as PokerStars’ Player of the Month means that Dembla has spent hours grinding on the platform. According to his numbers on PokerStars, Dembla has earned ₹8,38,714 in total winnings on this poker platform. We asked Dembla why he liked playing on this poker site? “PokerStars has one of the best user interfaces when it comes to poker platforms which is why I like playing on it,” came his honest reply.

As we mentioned above, Dembla shipped the ₹10 Lakh GTD Super Highroller for ₹2,42,918 and the ₹10 Lakh GTD Sunday Highroller for ₹2,26,894 in February 2022. In poker, highrollers have a higher buy-in when compared to other tournaments. We asked Dembla how he approaches highroller events as opposed to other tournaments and he said, “Highrollers have a deep structure compared to other types of tourneys. Here you can wait for your hands, and you have to play a lot of small pots. You can play a lot of three bets, four bets when playing a highroller. I enjoy playing them more than turbos.”

We also asked Dembla what keeps him going when it comes to playing poker. “I love playing poker and that’s what keeps me interested to continue,” said the recreational player. With live poker events making a comeback, we questioned Dembla if he would be playing in any. “I love playing live. There is the Baazi Poker Tour (BPT) coming up on 23rd March, so I’ll be there for that. After that, I’ll be playing in the upcoming Adda52 events and even the Deltin Poker Tour (DPT). Basically, I’ll be playing all live events that are open,” said this poker fanatic happily.

Dembla also looks forward to playing against Sriharsha Doddapaneni and Anuj Yadav who, according to him, are both very good players. “If I win against them, it will definitely feel good,” said Dembla. 

Right now, Dembla continues to crush it on the virtual felts and we can’t wait to see him do the same on the live felts as well. With BPT starting, we will be sure to be on the lookout for this crusher!
