The Malaysia-born Taiwanese player chipped up quite well in the game and never let that shiny APT trophy out of sight. The 29-year-old from Penang who now resides in Tainan had also won a Single Day High Roller tourney at APT Incheon last year. Congratulations to the new champion.

Xiaosheng Zheng finished second in the APT Summer Series, Hanoi, Vietnam 2023 for VND 1,390,920,000 (~$59,800). Take a look at how the final hand of the game unfolded. Sua opened with 350,000 and his rival Xiaosheng Zheng called. 9♦ A♣ 3♥ came on the flop and Zheng check-called a bet of 225,000 from his rival.

The turn had Q♣ which was checked by Zheng; Sua bet 850,000 and Zheng matched. The river came in the form of T♠. Sua fired 1,400,000 and his opponent was seen making use of a time-extension chip. Zheng called. Sua was quick to table Q♠ 3♠ for two pairs; Zheng mucked his hand.

When action folded to the big blind player (China’s Xiaoshung Zheng), he made the call. Kydatov cards read 9♥ 6♥ while Zheng showed 4♣ 4♠. Hendri checked his option. Sua threw in 150,000 which Hendri called. Once again Hendri checked the turn of K♦; Sua fired another bullet worth 400,000. Indonesia’s Hendri did a check-raise of 1,400,000. This left Hendri with just 500,000 chips. Sua showed an aggressive move when he went all-in and action folded back to Hendri. The young Vietnamese player raised to 850,000 from the highjack spot leaving less than 100,000 chips in his stack. The cutoff had Indonesia’s Jhon Hendri making use of a time bank. He then jammed his tournament life and saw Dong matching the bet. Hendri showed A♦ 8♠ while Dong revealed K♠ J♠. The board ran rout as T♣ 7♣ 3♣ 3♦ 7♦. Shih needed a runner-runner to survive the game. Sadly the turn of K♣ gave Thanh a flush draw while Shih’s hopes for a straight were also up. The river of Tc handed a flush to Thanh and despite rivering a straight Shih had bubbled the event with no money to show for his efforts.

Nam Hai Hoang lost most of his chips to France’s Jerome Finck in an earlier pot. Hoang’s next move was to shove. He shoved his chips in a raised pot with Indian pro Nishant Sharma. The Gamezy Poker pro opened from the highjack spot; Hiroki Takezaki of Japan made the call. Hoang 3-bet shoved when the action circled to him. Sharma then went for the 4-bet route and raised to 35,000 which was called by Takezaki.

There was a side pot brewing and things got heated. Dealer fanned out T♦ 5♣ 3♦ and Takezaki checked his option. Sharma threw 40,000 chips and found a caller. The turn revealed 9♥ and both players checked their options. 5♠ came on the river and Sharma checked. Takezaki threw 75,000 in the pot and a call came from Sharma. At Level 1, Blinds: 500/1,000, ante 1,000, Jerome Finck of France raised preflop; India’s Nishant Sharma made the call. The flop came T♣ 9♠ 5♦. Finck barreled again and his rival Sharma matched the bet. The turn (5♠) was a repeat telecast of the flop in terms of action.

The river revealed Q♠ and Finck checked. Sharma then fired 28,500 chips into the pot. Finck didn’t even bother to think and quickly folded before. Sharma nailed the pot hook, line and sinker.

Welcome to the live updates of the Super High Roller at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Series Hanoi, 2023. The much awaited live series kicked-off amid rising excitement among the player community. Gutshot Magazine will be covering the live updates for three marquee tournaments, namely Super High Roller, Main Event and High Roller. Today is Day 1 of the highly-anticipated APT Summer Series Hanoi 2023 APT Super High Roller – 8 Max. 

This event has a buy-in of With a guaranteed prize pool of VND2,000,000,000 (~US$86,000) the opening day of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Super High Roller is indeed among the highlights in the vast event calendar for this series and it kicks off today (27th May) at exactly 1:30PM (UCT+7) at the Grand Loyal Poker Club here.

This one-day event has a buy-in of VND 120,000,000 and offers a colossal advertised guarantee of  VND120,000,000 (~US$5,100). Late registration will conclude at the end of Level 10 or 8:55 PM. The starting stack in this SHR event is 250,000 with levels lasting for 40 minutes. The opening blinds are 500/1,000 (BBA 1,000). 

Previously, England’s Sam Lam shipped the SHR event and took home TWD 3,997,400 (~US$130,000). This top score was Lam’s second live cash.
