Day 8 of India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) January 2021 had one of the highly anticipated tournaments of this ongoing poker festival. Just like the previous days, Day 8 also recorded a large number of participation and saw superb performances from some of the top players in the country. Here’s a total run down of what happened yesterday.
With a total of 598 entries and a buy-in of INR 770, the first tournament of IOPC Day 8 saw top 47 entries going home with a min-cash of INR 3,277. Entering the tournament with a 3:1 chip lead, Siddharth Ojha aka ‘SidSparta21‘ called ‘$enior@dvocate‘ all-in pre-flop and won the pot with a pair of queens against the latter’s pair of fours. He bagged the top spot and took INR 1,12,067 home while the runner-up walked away with INR 71,185. Ojha also won two tournaments on Day 4 and Day 6 of IOPC January 2021.
Next up we have the IOPC #48 with an INR 6.25 Lakhs GTD prize pool which saw a a total of 397 players enter the field. Out of which the top 31 entries walked away with a min-cash of INR 5,500. The winner was Prafull Hasbe aka ‘2Lucifer2‘ who cashed an impressive INR 1,18,307.
The third tournament of the day was the 5 Lakhs GTD Monster Stack which passed the advertised guarantee and led to a prize pool of INR 5,54,400. The tournament recorded a total of 792 entries. With a buy-in of INR 770, top 63 places were paid and the min-cash stood at INR 2,411. The winner was ‘pot-pan‘ who cashed INR 88,551 after making a three way deal with players ‘SansuS‘ and ‘PleasebeTuna.’
This tournament had a total of 397 entries competing fiercely. However, it was the top 31 entries that made the money and walked home with a min-cash of INR 5,940. Player ‘bob_marley‘ entered the tournament with a 3:1 chip lead. On level 50, with hole cards A♣️ Q♦️, ‘bob_marley’ went all-in in the pre-flop stage. His opponent Siddhanth Kapoor aka ‘Liu Kang‘ called his all-in with hole cards 5♣️ 5♦️. The board opened and in an epic showdown, ‘bob_marley’ won with a straight and walked away with the biggest piece of the prize pool with INR 1,42,762.
The second biggest tournament of the day saw a total of 892 entries playing the field but it was only the top 87 players who got a min-cash of INR 12,400. Interestingly, the tournament ended in a four way deal between players ‘icansuckout,’ Aditya Sushant, Vivek Singh aka ‘KasolHeights,’ and Ratul Steves with Singh taking the bigger share of the divided prize money.
The Highroller with an INR 1 Crore GTD prize pool was one of the most awaited tournaments of the day with top poker players reaching the final table. A total of 497 entries played in the INR 16.50 Lakhs GTD tournament out of which 47 places won a min-cash of INR 9,405. It was Deepak Singh aka ‘Optimist‘ that crushed veteran player Vivek Singh aka ‘KasolHieghts‘ for the top spot and claimed INR 3,21,585 in winnings. ‘Optimist’ entered with a 6:1 chip lead and in level #47 went all-in pre-flop with hole cards 8♠️ K♦️. Opponent ‘KasolHeights’ called the all-in holding A♥️ 9♣️. The board opened and ‘Optimist’ won the pot with two pairs, KK88.
It was Destiny IOPC Edition 10 Lakhs GTD that was the last tournament of the day which had a buy-in of INR 2,200. The top 39 places were paid a min-cash of INR 6,990. Bringing the day to a close was Manish Lakhotia aka ‘thekid‘ who defeated player ‘Fishy27‘ and walked away with an impressive prize money of INR 2,00,500. The battle between the two ended in a showdown when both players went all-in on the pre-flop stage. While both got an ace pair on the turn, it was Lakhotia who won the pot with a K as a kicker.
