Fedor Holz Ships Event #79, Secures 2nd WSOP Bracelet

In just a couple of years, German poker player Fedor Holz went from grinder to world-renowned pro with $30+ million in live poker earnings. As compared to the others at the top of the all-time money list for poker tournaments, Fedor was much younger too, currently only 27 years of age. However, he’s still piling on the wins, though he’s technically ‘retired’ from the game of poker right now.

Running poker coaching website Pokercode, being brand ambassador of leading poker website GGPoker as well as working on other projects, poker has taken a backseat in Fedor’s life of late but he wasn’t going to miss out on the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) which he could play from the comfort of his home itself.

In fact, he didn’t just play but went on to capture a gold bracelet as well, shipping Event #79: $25,000 Heads Up NLHE after he beat a number of world class pros through multiple days of the tournament. The win turned out to be his second bracelet and he also added a sweet 7-digit prize amount of $1,077,025 to his poker bankroll.

Because of the high buy-in, it was a field of just 127 entries but this field involved the best minds in the game. The People’s Choice Event was on hold after it reached the final four players and given the format of the tournament, we resumed yesterday with the semi finals; it took Holz only about an hour in all to take down all glory!

He beat Spain’s Sergi Reixach in his semi final clash which took around 45 minutes while in was a one-sided final where he got past Brunno Botteon in just about 15 minutes of play. In the final hand, the flop opened 5d 4h 8h and Botteon got into the pot with pocket Tens, only to see Fedor had pocket Fives which upgraded to a set on the flop itself. 9s 4s on the turn and river secured it for Holz eventually!

Final table payouts:

  1. Fedor Holz – $1,077,025
  2. Brunno Botteon – $622,300
  3. Oktay Kahyaoglu – $311,150
  4. Sergi Reixach – $311,150
  5. Jason McConnon – $194,469
  6. Justin Bonomo – $194,469
  7. Stuart Wallensteen – $194,469
  8. Aaron Van Blarcum – $194,469
