India’s only franchise-based poker league, Poker Sports League (PSL), is back with a fifth edition, and it promises to be bigger than the previous seasons. To spice it up, the league has announced the popular poker platform Pocket52 as the title sponsor.
PSL made the announcement via an Instagram post. The post read, “When Poker Sports League meets Pocket52, you get the world’s best poker league! Proud to announce Pocket52 as the Title Sponsor for Poker Sports League Season 5.”
Thrilled to be back with yet another season of PSL with Pocket52 as the title, Pranav Bagai, CEO, and Founder, stated, “As the world’s largest poker league in terms of prize pool and participation, PSL has taken the game of poker to a new level with its unique team-based format that sportifies the game. It’s a true test of skill and strategy, where each team has a balance of professionals and amateurs, giving everyone an equal opportunity to shine at the highest level – for FREE. With our fifth edition on the cards, I am equally happy and excited to have Pocket52 as our title sponsor since our visions are aligned in terms of bringing poker to the masses – responsibly. The qualifiers for PSL Season 5, known as ‘Spacewars,’ begin from 4th May and will run till 25th June 2023. The player auctions for the league will take place on 8th July 2023. The league will be in a phygital format, which means a mix of physical and virtual forms. The virtual finale will be held between 22nd July to 10th August 2023, while the finale will be held live from 16th to 20th August 2023.
This season, the league features an astronomical theme. The league is promoting the upcoming season using the hashtag #IntoThePokerSpace. The last season of PSL, held in April 2022, concluded with the Kolkata Kings franchise lifting the trophy.

Additionally, Kolkata Kings walked away with prize money of ₹72 Lakh, while Deccan Aces won ₹48 Lakh for their runner-up finish. The season featured 36 qualifying and 12 professional players. There were also six slots for women and six slots for substitutes. Know more about PSL Season 4 here.
