Minissha Lamba needs no introduction, with the Bollywood actress being a well-known name in India. She made her debut in 2005 and has starred in movies like ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Kidnap’, while appearing in the super popular reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 8 in 2014. However, when the actress is away from the screen, she is busy improving her poker skills. It would surprise many, but Lamba is amongst the top Indian live poker players.
The Delhi-born model/actor cum poker player learnt poker at a Diwali party and has been hooked since. It is no surprise that Lamba appeared in India’s renowned tournament series like the India Poker Championship (IPC) and the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) in Goa, among other Indian live series. Lamba signed with Adda52.com as the brand’s first celebrity pro in 2017 alongside a team of experienced poker players. It was also the same year that she started with high-stakes cash games.
As a brand ambassador, she represented the poker platform in multiple events like the World Poker Tour (WPT) and World Series of Poker (WSOP). She played her first international poker tournament in 2017 and took part in the WPT500 Aria Poker Tournament 2017, which took place in Las Vegas.
2018 was a big year for Lamba, where she registered a third-place finish at DPT Super High Roller to pocket ₹14,36,000 ($21,466) in April while coming in 2nd place at the NLH High Roller in WPTDeepStacks to pocket ₹23,63,000 ($33,058) in November that year, both events taking place in Goa.
She also made deep runs in many domestic tournaments while also cashing in two WSOP tournaments in Las Vegas. Speaking about her performances online, Lamba has fared well on the virtual felts as well, with her best online score coming in 2020, where she played Adda52’s Mega Suits AF to finish fifth and pocket ₹1,92,825. After turning her hobby into a more serious pursuit, Lamba is inspiring women to take up the game and create a mark in the field.
