Poker games are never devoid of any action. Whether it’s in the form of betting, calling, or raising, an action is required for the game to progress. But did you know that there are also different kinds of action in a poker game? What does the term ‘Action Only’ mean in poker?

When it comes to an all-in bet, only a full bet is considered as a proper wager. A full bet should be more than the minimum bet (the big blind). Only an all-in bet that is a full bet will be considered as a raise that can be re-raised. If the all-in bet is anything less than the full bet, then it will be considered as ‘action-only.’ In this case, action-only means that other players can only call the bet but not raise it.

For example, Ramesh bets ₹100, Aditya calls, and Abhinav goes all in for ₹130. Then, in this case, Ramesh is only allowed to call the extra ₹30; the same also applies to Aditya. Here, since the all-in by Abhinav is not a full bet, it is not large enough to re-open the betting round for someone who has already acted before. This part of the game where players are only allowed to call and not re-raise is called action only.
