26th of July is the day poker legend Daniel Negreanu aka ‘KidPoker,’ was born. While we keep talking about this six-time World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner and his poker accolades, today, we wanted to shed light on his life other than poker. How often do you hear about Daniel Negreanu, as an author, a vlogger, and a big time Twitterati? Not often, right?! Well then, here are a few things that this champ excels at, off the felts.
A few days ago, this Canadian professional poker player was in the news because this was his worst WSOP season. While the alleged shooting in Las Vegas during the WSOP, Las Vegas is also one of the reasons why he was the talk of the town, yet another reason that we have at hand today is it’s his birthday today. On this day, as the poker community and we celebrate the day a legend was born, we also had several questions in our minds like, ‘Was Daniel Negreanu the same 15 years ago too?’ Other than poker, who is Negreanu?
This Canadian is one of the biggest poker influencers of this time. Negreanu has been a YouTuber for the past ten years and has over 6 Lakh subscribers. Some of his first videos were titled ‘Weekly Rants’ where he would talk about poker, carnivals, and almost everything under the roof. Negreanu’s vlogs are where you will see and hear about WSOP updates, poker theories, high-stakes feuds, streams, and more.
KidPoker has been a vegan since 2006. In an interview with Veganuary.com, he added that a meat-based diet did no good for him. Negreanu has dominated the poker industry for a few decades, and when asked how much of his poker success can be accredited to Veganism, he said, ‘A lot!’
Take a look at what people who get inspired by his lifestyle post:

Head to Negreanu’s BLOG. to what happens when people use a VPN, Negreanu has penned his thoughts about essential poker topics, such as Poker and Politics, Stud 8 basic strategy, and The Tournament Directors Association. Although there are over 700 blog posts, he discontinued writing after July 2020.
You rarely come across men who are loud and clear about the affection they hold for their parents, let alone their mother. Negreanu, on the contrary, holds high values for his mother and fondly recalls his conversations with her. A post by ‘Way Bac Machine’ states that Negreanu has hung a gift from his mother on the wall. This gift is a framed letter that Mama Negreanu, Daniel’s mother, had received from the school principal.
Such a letter would immediately make any of us chuckle, but it was quite significant for Negreanu and his mother. After all, his misbehaviour in school or even dropping out of high school did not hold much water because today, he is a global star and a poker player that the entire fraternity looks up to. An anecdote that he shared shows that Negreanu always saw greatness in himself. He added, “From the age of four, I thought I’d be rich. I told my mom I’d build a house out of Popsicle sticks and move to California.”
In 2013, this Poker Hall of Fame inductee virtually penned a soul-crushing letter for his mother, titled, “Who I Am Today Because Of You, Mommy.’ In the letter, Negreanu thanked his mother for who he is and what she has taught him through the years. His praise for her posthumously ended with the words, “I miss you and think about you daily. Love, your son Daniel.’
In an interview with Gutshot Magazine, Negreanu shared an anecdote where he splurged for a Mickey Mouse purse he gifted to his mother. When we posed the question, ‘Tell us your favourite and most obnoxious purchases with your poker earnings,’ he said, I was in Atlantic City looking at this Mickey Mouse purse covered in diamonds. I wasn’t really sure what it was, so I asked, “What is that?” The lady said, “It’s very expensive.” The next day I won the US Poker Championship for $210,000, went back to the store, pulled out bricks of cash, and bought it for my mother. It felt like my ‘Pretty Woman’ moment. ‘ Read more about Negreanu from our exclusive interview here.
On his website, he also describes himself as a performer at heart. Are we complaining? No, absolutely not! Only a person with ingrained acting skills can give us so much content. This enthusiast has acted in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ and ‘Detention’ and has also made cameos on numerous TV shows.

The list of things Negreanu is doing and can do in the future are endless. We hope with every passing year, ‘DNegs’ adds more and more feathers to his hat. Cheers to one of the most talented ‘kid’ in poker!
