MGM Resorts joins the list of casinos on the Las Vegas strip to remove plexiglass dividers and now allow workers to remain mask-free. The plexiglass dividers were put on the poker tables and slot tables in casinos to maintain social distancing among casino-goers.
On Saturday, the Orleans Hotel and Casino also added its name to the list of poker rooms in Nevada that removed the dividers. Plexiglass dividers have also come down at all properties of Caesars Entertainment, which include Bally’s Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and the Flamingo.
Other poker rooms including the Aria, Bellagio, and MGM Grand have also followed suit after Wynn and Encore casinos dropped the plexiglass. As poker rooms have now removed the plexiglass dividers, only fully vaccinated guests have been allowed to enter casinos without wearing masks.
Nevada Gaming Control Board has said that the responsibility to only house fully vaccinated guests have been left in the hands of the property owners. Several casinos on the strip have also been allowed to function at full capacity. The Strat Hotel, Casino & SkyPod, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, and Encore are properties that have been allowed 100% gaming floor capacity.
Other casinos that are not on the strip but next to the McCarran International Airport, such as the Station Casinos properties on the valley and the Silverton Casino Hotel are also allowed to operate at full capacity. As per a report by casino.org, people are considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 after two weeks of them receiving a single shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or two weeks after people receive the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.
As per reports by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC,) 47.4% of the eligible population in the US has received at least one dose of the vaccine while 37% are fully vaccinated.
