Latest GGPoker ambassador tests COVID-19 positive

The poker world associates him by the title ‘Triple Crown’, a prominent name in the industry Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier has been tested positive for coronavirus. This disturbing news comes in the same week when the former partypoker and PokerStars ambassador joined hands with GGPoker, reuniting with six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu.

The Frenchman is currently in Czech Republic where a total of 6,657 confirmed cases have been reported along with 181 deaths. Czech’s testing levels are two and a half times higher than ElkY’s native France which has been worst hit by the pandemic. The former esports star revealed that he came across a mandatory test after riding with an infected uber driver.

A couple of days ago, Negreanu was chilling out in his backyard when he announced on his Instagram handle that the talented pro was the latest addition to the team, referring to him as his PokerStars colleague who is a “great guy and even better player.”

While thankfully, ElkY has been tested asymptomatic but he still needs to undergo 14 days of quarantine to avoid encountering others. After posting his picture on Twitter, his fans and prominent names in poker industry wished him fast recovery.

This news comes after weeks ago pro with 8+ million in total live earnings, David ‘Doc’ Sands was tested positive. Sands revealed that one day he woke up to have “one of the worst headaches I’ve ever had. But I didn’t think I had COVID-19 since I didn’t have a fever or shortness of breath, which in addition to a cough are the two primary symptoms.” However, like Grospillier, Sands remains in a great spirit. The poker community has always been present for each other and names like Erik Seidel, Jennifer Tilly and Todd Brunson all offered their support.
