Jeremy Renner might not be wielding the bow and arrow as Hawkeye anymore, but he is back in the public eye, and this time for a good cause. Renner, who bounced back from a snowmobile accident in 2023, will host a Celebrity Poker Showdown in Las Vegas, the home of gaming. The event is part of the Heroes Fore Kids Charity Weekend. The proceeds from it will benefit RennerVation Foundation, a non-profit Renner founded in 2023 to serve northern Nevada’s disadvantaged youth.
The weekend kicks off with the $300 buy-in Celebrity Poker Showdown on 19th October at 5 PM. The Showdown will bring some of the most popular celebrities to the felt, including Michael Chilkis, who played the Thing in Marvel’s Fantastic Four. Maybe Renner and Chilkis can exchange some marvellous ideas over the weekend.
The rest of the list includes actors Rob Riggle, Mekhi Phifer, and Richard Kind, boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, and influencer Jimmy Darts. The weekend also includes a golf game, followed by an All-Star rock concert.
Counting down the days until we see you in Vegas, for our HEROES FORE KIDS Charity Weekend! Grab your friends and your tickets and we will see you there!

Celebrities entering the poker world are far too common, but this is one of the few occasions when the game is being used for charitable purposes. Earlier, Seinfeld cast member Jason Alexander was seen at the felts, along with a host of other actors. With all this information, it can be said that this event will be a marquee event and become one of the most talked-about events coming out of Hollywood, bolstering the game’s image.

Renner was involved in a accident in 2023 when a snowplough that weighed over 14,000 kilos ran him over. He has undergone considerable surgery since then and is back in the public eye. Renner is a new name on the felts, as there is little news about his interest in the game or the industry prior to this. Of course, it could be a one-off outing with poker for charity causes for Renner. The felts have interested other actors, including Child’s Play’s Jennifer Tilly, Ben Affleck and others.
Exposure to the poker world is always lucrative, as the industry offers several money-earning opportunities, such as winning in series and as brand ambassadors. Hollywood is slowly waking up to the global phenomenon of poker, with poker-themed movies and even comic books making their presence felt. Recently, there were talks about Matt Damon being open to a Rounders sequel, one of the few—but iconic—movies based on poker.
