IOPC July 2019 Main Event Winner – Srihari Bang

India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) is one of the biggest online events in the country, but it’s the Main Event (ME) that truly takes the cake. The prestigious ME called ‘The Crown’ is a title many poker players look forward to clinching. Not only does this title come with bragging rights, but it also rewards the winner with the largest share of the prize pool (read truckload of money).

Over the years, there have been a total of 12 IOPC ME winners and one of them is Srihari Bang. Let’s take a look into Bang’s poker career so far and some of his notable achievements in the game.

Who is Srihari Bang?

Srihari Bang graduated from Christ University, Bangalore in 2019 and studied Family Business Management Programme in SP Jain Global in Mumbai.  He is among the popular players from the Indian poker scene and was introduced to the game in his 2nd year at the university by his brother Pranav Bang. With a newfound passion for poker, Bang became an avid online grinder and added many poker titles to his name.

IOPC July 2019 ME Victory

Bang scored his biggest online cash when he shipped the IOPC July 2019 Millionaire event. He was the last man standing after emerging victorious from a massive player field of 2,842-entries, out of this 444 entries made it to Day 2 which included 290 unique players. The prize pool of the event exceeded its ₹2 Crore guarantee and generated a total of ₹2,93,80,000 across seven Day 1 flights. Out of the top 311 players that were paid, it was Bang that took home the lion’s share of the prize pool worth a whopping ₹48,56,514. The young player beat poker veteran Goonjan Mall to clinch the title.

Online Exploits

Apart from this prestigious win, Bang was also the runner-up in Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) Main Event in February 2020 and took home around ₹27.5 Lakh. He also recently shipped the IOPC June 2022 Sunday Prime 60 Lakh GTD and took home ₹13,35,560 in prize money. He’s a regular grinder on Spartan Poker and plays under the moniker ‘Bangbang99.’ So far, this former IOPC ME winner has accumulated around ₹5.31 Crore (as of June 2022) in online earnings and has a total of 60 titles (as of June 2022) under his name.

Live Stats

While Bang is an active player on the online felts, he doesn’t play a lot of live poker. In an interview with PokerSpot, Bang mentioned that he had his first live experience by playing an unnamed live tournament in Bangalore which he ended up shipping.

With Bang already shipping tournaments in IOPC June 2022, we are excited to see if he can clinch the IOPC Main Event – The Crown title once again!
