Bankers grinding on the poker tables—this isn’t big news. But bankers shipping high-value tournaments and becoming cover stars is a phenomenon of the recent past. Biggies like Kunal Patni, Amit Gehani, Prateek Shukla, Sameer Agarwal, among others have a background in banking and have caused quite the stir on the poker felts too. Today we’ll be looking into India Online Poker Championship (IOPC) January 2022 Main Event (ME) winner Amit Gehani.
Gehani is a poker player based out of Dubai. He shipped the IOPC January 2022 ME for ₹56.40 Lakh, which is his career-best online cash. Gehani also won a diamond-studded 18K gold crown along with the prize money. Everyone is excited to know who will take the ME title this year. But before we get a new winner, let’s take a look at the defending champion. Gehani, who was Spartan Poker’s Player of the Month (February 2022), also shipped the following tournaments:

Gehani ran deep in the India Poker Championship (IPC) Megastacks May 2022 Main Event but unfortunately busted at Level 12 when his AJ ran into Deepak Singh’s Pocket Rockets. The IPC event was Gehani’s first live poker tournament, but sadly, this player couldn’t make a splash with his win.

As a banker, he is well versed in bankroll management. In an interview with Gutshot Magazine, he added, “In every event I grind, the plans are to fire maximum 2-3 bullets. If one isn’t succeeding, it is better to opt out of that tourney and play in other events. If you want to know some of his other tips, check out ‘Top 7 Tips by Amit Gehani.’
Gehani is all praises for Spartan Poker as he often says that the high-value tournaments like IOPC and Final Table Series (FTS) are his favourites. He also loves the platform because of the customer support and the look and feel of the application.
Bankers are not only grinding but also making their presence felt. This player loves to chill on the Indian soil and is a very fine addition to the fraternity. Although he plays poker for fun, he plans to grind in the future. With the some spectacular wins on the online felts we are eager to see how Gehani spins the wheel on the live felts. Watch out for Gehani, guys!
