The gaming scene in India is on the fast track to become one of the biggest forms of entertainment in the country. With esports now being recognized as an official sport in India by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), things are looking up for the gaming community. Free Fire, a popular battle royale game is one of the leading brands in the market. Garena, the publisher of Free Fire have now announced the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2021.
The Free Fire World Series will be held in Singapore. The play-ins for the highly- anticipated tournament will be held on 22 May, 2021 and the finals will be hosted on 29 May, 2021. The mega esports event will have a prize pool worth a whopping USD 2 million. The top 22 teams from over 14 countries worldwide will be competing in the event.

The finals of the Free Fire World Series 2021 will boil down to 12 teams. Two teams will qualify from the play-ins while the remaining spots will be given to the winners of various regional Free Fire tournaments. Team PG from Pakistan has already qualified for one of the play-in slots.
As a result of Free Fire’s popularity in India, Garena will be awarding two slots in the upcoming World Series. These slots will be given to the top two teams from the Free Fire India Championship (FFIC) 2021 Spring tournament. The champion team of the FFIC 2021 will directly qualify for the finals of the FFWS 2021. The runner-up will have to qualify through the play-ins.
This is a golden opportunity for Free Fire fans in the country and many are excited to see how the Indian teams perform on the world stage.
